WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Jonathan Hirtle, CEO of Hirtle, Callaghan & Co., one of the nation's largest and fastest-growing privately held investment firms, will participate in a panel discussion on ethics this evening in New York. Organized by Penn State's Smeal College of Business, the discussion will examine integrity and professionalism in turbulent economic times.

The program, "Leadership Perspectives on Ethics in Today's Complex World," will begin at 6:45 p.m. at The Princeton Club at 15 West 43rd Street. Doors open at 6 p.m. and refreshments will be served during a networking reception, which will follow the panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. The event is open to all alumni and friends of Penn State, but guests must pre-register online at www.smeal.psu.edu/wsi.

Hirtle, a graduate of Penn State, said he was happy to be asked to participate in this evening's panel.

"We've been referred to as 'Wall Street idealists' for our unusual emphasis on both performance intensity and a genuine fiduciary ethos. We salute Penn State and Smeal for engaging in this important dialogue."

Other panelists are:

  • Joan Amble, executive vice president and corporate comptroller, American Express Co.
  • Matthew Mintzer, head of U.S. Advisory Sales, Alliance Bernstein Defined Contribution Investments
  • Krishna Nadella, associate director, Moody's Analytics
  • Mark Schweiker, president and chief executive officer of Business Process Outsourcing, PRWT Services, Inc., former president and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and former governor of Pennsylvania
  • Linda Trevino, Distinguished Professor of Organizational Behavior and Ethics, Smeal College of Business

Founded in 1988, Hirtle Callaghan was the first asset management firm to position itself as an outsourced Chief Investment Officer, targeting family groups and organizations that do not employ their own, fully-staffed investment departments. Jonathan Hirtle and co-founder Donald Callaghan left Goldman Sachs to establish their firm, intent on down-streaming the investment results that had previously been realized by only the largest multi-billion dollar investors.

Hirtle Callaghan's clients include family groups, endowments, foundations and pension funds. The firm has grown rapidly over recent years, and that growth has accelerated in the wake of last year's market turmoil.

The firm just opened an office in New York, joining its other offices in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix and Pittsburgh.

Since 1999, the Wall Street Initiative has been connecting Penn State alumni who work on Wall Street with the goal of strengthening corporate relationships with the University, providing networking opportunities for alumni, and assisting students in pursuit of careers in New York's financial district.
