Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" Vs The Nation's "Going Rouge"
By Robert Paul Reyes
"When Sarah Palin's big-bucks memoir "Going Rogue: An American Life by Sarah Palin" comes out Nov. 17, there'll be another book about her hitting the stores the same day: "Going Rouge: Sarah Palin, an American Nightmare."
The 'Rouge' book, with a similar name and cover, will be put out by a new company, OR Books, says Publisher's Marketplace, which says it will be composed of "essays assembled by Nation editors Richard Kim and Betsy Reed." Joe Kimball/MinnPost.Com
I have little faith in the common sense and intelligence of most Americans, and I have no doubt that Palin's memoir (penned by a ghostwriter) will sell very well. I will be one of those in the minority who will purchase "Going Rouge" instead of "Going Rogue."
Sarah Palin exemplifies the superficiality and vanity of American pop culture. A wink, designer glasses, homespun "wisdom", a fancy wardrobe, a penchant for spitting out photogenic children, a handsome spouse, and a little rouge has taken Palin to the heights of political power.
A collection of rejected Penthouse Forum letters would be more edifying than Palin's book. Shame on those who buy Palin's book, may their children grow up to be as enlightened and intelligent as their idol.
