PALNET Turning Up the Heat on the Heat Treatment of Pallets
VINELAND, N.J., Oct. 26 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- While others, including the Federal Government, are talking about the need for a national treatment requirement for solid wood packaging, PALNET has sprung into action. PALNET, as well as the National Wooden Pallet and Container Association, have been seeking the implementation of a national rule requiring all wooden packaging to be treated according to ISPM-15, the international standard for wood packaging materials for many years.
These rules would ensure that all precautions are taken to prevent the possible transport of invasive species from one location to another. In the last five years, more than 140 nations have adopted the ISPM-15 standard and it has proven to be 99.9 percent effective.
According to Michael Smith, C.O.O. of PALNET, a national supplier of pallets, shipping materials and logistics management, "We have been pushing for a national standard so that each state's requirements match up. We want the greatest degree of protection for our forests, our environment and our supply chain."
