Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers, the NBA and NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade Launch Team Xtreme
NORWALK, Conn. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Pepperidge Farm Flavor Blasted® Goldfish®
brand, in partnership with the NBA and NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade, today
announced the Team Xtreme program, which encourages America's
youth to stay active through outdoor play.
Named after the Goldfish cracker character Xtreme, Team Xtreme
will encourage kids to get outside and play. All kids are invited to
join Team Xtreme at GoldfishFun.com/team_xtreme_park, where they
can enter a sweepstakes to win one of six all-expenses paid trip for
four to NBA All-Star 2010 in Dallas. In addition, when kids visit the
website, they can track their active play time for additional chances to
win the trip. The new website features hundreds of game ideas, a 'game
of the week,' a scoreboard where kids can see the total number of hours
of play time logged by kids nationwide and receive messages from Team
Xtreme co-captains, Dwyane Wade and the energetic Goldfish character,
Xtreme. The website even has a pop up video of Wade, who encourages kids
to go outside and play after being on the site for 15 minutes.
"I am thrilled to continue my partnership with the Goldfish brand, and
to encourage kids across the country to be active through play," said
Wade. "Keeping kids fit is really important to me and I believe that
when children understand the necessity of living a healthy lifestyle,
they are able to make good choices about nutrition and fitness."
"We are extremely proud of our Team Xtreme program which partners
our Goldfish character Xtreme with NBA star Dwyane Wade to
encourage kids to go outside, play, and have fun," said Steve White Vice
President, Youth Snacks Division for Pepperidge Farm. "With the
continued focus on childhood obesity and the sedentary lifestyles of
many Americans today, the Pepperidge Farm Goldfish brand
is passionate about encouraging change and making physical activity a
fun and necessary part of children's lives."
The program will be supported with a :30-second television ad featuring
Xtreme, the Goldfish character, and Wade that will be shown on
Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and the Disney channel throughout the month
of November. In addition, Sports Illustrated for Kids subscribers
will receive their November issue 'wrapped' with an Goldfish
brand advertisement about Team Xtreme, which features Xtreme and
Wade encouraging kids to log on to goldfishfun.com to sign up.
Additional support includes online advertising.
