PHOTO: Blind Community Sees Klango 3 Unveiled - The First Global Social Network for the Blind

TORUN, Poland (EWORLDWIRE) Oct 21, 2009

Klango Network, an interactive media and messaging platform popular in the international blind community, unveils Klango 3, a new version of its accessible and acclaimed free client software.

Klango 3, available in 10 languages and beta-tested by thousands of users, introduces strong support for groups and local communities. The new features turn the Klango Network into a fully-fledged, global social network. This is the first such initiative actively supported by blind computer users from around the world.

Klango Groups introduced in Klango 3 provide users with rich set of tools for creating interest groups and for supporting their own local communities - group forums, blogs, polls and surveys, access control policy, selection of internet media sources, shared notes, and more. Each group's owner can easily produce an unlimited number of customized versions of the Klango 3 software, so called "Mini-Klangos," which provide access to the groups' resources and can be freely redistributed.

"We are sure that Klango Groups and Mini-Klangos can help solve many communication and organizational problems hindering blind communities and organizations around the world," said Maciej Muszytowski, co-founder of the Klango Network, "Mini-Klangos are the first such attractive accessible groupware. They can be easily created in and used by schools, classes, organizations and even businesses. We see Klango Network as a medium and a place where local communities meet and address current challenges together."

New features available in Klango 3 include among others Klango Blogs, the Quick Web Viewer and the Klango Twitter client. The community-edited Open Media Catalog, in addition to radio stations, podcasts and audiobooks, now also accepts Web pages and RSS channels.

Klango 3 and Mini-Klangos like their predecessors are characterized by a distinct, original accessible user interface which can be customized with tens of community-made "audio themes."

"Users join Klango Network because of its great community, novel user interface, audio games, and huge media catalog. Giving people as much enjoyment as possible is one of our main objectives," added Muszytowski.

Klango 3 is available for free at Klango.net "> and is compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7.
