The Economic Crisis Finds Faith in Detroit
Garrett Godwin,
I just read your article "The Economic Crisis Finds Faith in Detroit." I really enjoyed it. I am always searching for news outlets that report the truth without going too negative or too positive. I have to agree with many of the members of the Connection Church, people's Faith will be strengthened during the time. I too was laid-off at the beginning of this year. It's funny though while this may have been the worst year of my life it has also been the best. I had faith before but this time has definitely strengthened it and I anxiously anticipated great things for the future.
In this unprecedented economic downturn America is experiencing, I believe Michigan is going to be the unlikely catalyst that restores stability to the United States. The key word is United. Unity is what will cause a remarkable transformation in the way America and Michigan operates. In your article you quoted Scott Gendron stating, "The less you have, and the less secure you are... the more that you have to draw upon faith." It is this faith and determination that will transform Michigan and the United States of American.
*"And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."***
This quote is the last line of the Declaration of Independence. The phrase demonstrates the co-authors' reliance or faith in a being greater than themselves. With this same faith we must once again mutually pledge our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor to shaping an America where all citizens endowed by their Creator can experience the unalienable rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
This country must revive the journey began by the members of the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. Their faithful spirit must move beyond the sturdy walls of Congress to the fragile sidewalks of impoverished neighborhoods. People must regain faith in their dreams of every child receiving an education, every individual being financially stable, and their ability to construct a neighborhood that will be a beacon of hope for the nation.
Capitalism has caused individuals to wait and hope institutions can resolve society's problems. Hope makes you wait. While faith makes you actively pursue. It is a person's faith that makes them take steps toward their dreams. As people's faith in something bigger, more powerful than themselves increases, we will draw closer to the dream of creating a nation where all people have the opportunities needed to succeed and thrive. More importantly, they no longer wait on institutions, but actively work to transform their internal faith into external realities. It is this Faith Stimulus, not an economic stimulus, which will put our nation back on track toward the American Dream.
Thank you once again for the article. I look forward to reading more of your work. I hope you will continue to write articles with truth and give insight into what people are feeling and going through. Keep these types of articles coming.
KEEP THE FAITH! YOUR LABOR IS NOT IN VAIN!
