Sweaty Feet In 'School Shoes' Harbour Pathogenic Microbes
Eradicil medicated pre-wash prevents low temp cross-infection risk
Low temperature washing is good news for the environment, but unfortunately it's also great for the fungi and bacteria that cause athlete's foot and smelly feet! Eradicil offers new hope to people plagued by these and other skin problems. It kills disease-causing organisms even in a low temperature wash, and will stop infections spreading through the family this winter.
Low temperature washing of socks, shoes, towels and sports kit doesn't kill the microscopic germs responsible for diseases such as thrush, fungal nail and impetigo creating the risk of cross-infection between family members as items mingle in the washing machine drum. Eradicil is a new medicated laundry pre-wash product that ensures 'green' washing doesn't mean growing mould.
David Draper, co-founder of Vidant Pharma, saw the need for a product like Eradicil when he realised that the 'boil wash' recommended in hospitals to kill infections was not possible in a domestic setting, and that standard laundry detergents didn't contain disinfectants that could kill the bacteria and fungi responsible for skin diseases.
"In the past clothes were disinfected with a lengthy 'boil wash' and ironing. But nowadays many fabrics cannot survive this sort of treatment, and many modern washing machines do not maintain the high temperatures required (above 65°C) for long enough to kill germs which stay in the drum," he says.
"We are all being encouraged to lower our washing temperatures to save energy and reduce our bills and our carbon footprints. The result is that 'clean' clothes still contain microbes which can cause diseases of the skin and nails. Using Eradicil in your wash kills these pathogens, in socks and also in shoes if trainers and other footwear are washed at low temperatures in the machine."
Certain people are at particular risk from skin infections: the elderly, young children and older ones, who share sports changing-room facilities, those suffering from diabetes or HIV and people receiving medication for cancer and transplantation.
Formulated in Switzerland, Eradicil is laboratory-proven to kill E. coli, MRSA, and pathogenic species of Candida and Trichophyton, as well as a host of other harmful microorganisms.
Eradicil has been specifically designed to work as a pre-wash; it eliminates sources of infection and disinfects the wash. It is available now at www.eradicil.co.uk or by calling 0844 335 0327.
Top Tips
Some advice to help prevent the spread of infections through families:
1. Avoid sharing towels - make sure that each family member has their own. Towels should be washed at least once a week.
2. To avoid athlete's foot, always dry feet thoroughly and wear a clean pair of socks. Never wear shoes without socks.
3. Treat skin and nail conditions promptly with a topical treatment to prevent infections spreading.
4. Wash hands thoroughly with antiseptic soap after touching infected areas.
5. Use Eradicil to disinfect your washing - including sheets, towels, bathmats, socks and underwear.
