First Annual Kid's Fest on Friday, October 23 at the Historic Nimbus Winery

Children and families are invited to celebrate the season at the first annual Kid's Fest on Friday, October 23 between 5-8pm at the Historic Nimbus Winery.

"We want to provide free, fun, family entertainment, while children celebrate the joys of the Fall Season," said Kid's Fest organizer Marlene Gabris of Toys That Teach.

The main focus of the event is to enjoy being children. The mall will be BOO-ming with FREE activities, such as Face Painting, Magic, Costume Parade, Balloons, Popcorn, Yogurt, Art Activities, Music and Fun.

The Toys That Teach resident musician who entertains young children weekly with sing-a-long melodies will be on hand to bring out the inner child of young and old. "Susan is loved by all the children, and has a regular following on Thursday mornings," Gay Begin added.

The big attraction will be the Costume Parade at 5:30pm. Children ages 0 -14 will receive participation ribbons and adults will enjoy gifts from Vintner's Cellar and Tommy T's. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their holiday best, whether sweet or sour, and "strut their stuff" at this fun, mall parade.

Much anticipated will be the announcement of the Scarecrow Contest winners. Last month, schools and Girl Scout Troops utilized their team working skills to design and create scarecrows that line the halls of the Nimbus Winery mall. "Whether or not they are acknowledged as prize winners, they all have won by learning to cooperate with one another as they developed their scarecrows from inception to realization," commented Girl Scout Leader Susan Douglass.

Ready to entertain will be Hawkins Dance School, Disney Caricature Artist John Denton, and a Balloon Artist who will make fun balloon creations to match the season. Art Activities will be provided by Toys That Teach, and free snacks such as popcorn and Yoghurt by Nujo will amaze the taste buds.

Kid's Fest runs from 5-8pm on Friday, October 23 at the Historic Nimbus Winery at Hwy 50 and Hazel Avenue. All activities are free of charge and open to all.
