Dr. Richard Jacoby Named President of the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons
Medical Community Organization Promotes Research, Study, and Treatment for Extremity Nerve Disease

Dr. Richard Jacoby, DPM, President of Valley Foot Surgeons and
the Scottsdale Neuropathy
Institute, was named the 2010 President of the Association of Extremity
Nerve Surgeons (AENS) at the organization's 7th Annual Scientific Symposium
in Fort Worth, Texas.
The AENS encompasses all members of the
medical community worldwide who are interested in peripheral nerve surgery
and physiology, including orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, plastic
surgeons, podiatrists, general surgeons, PhDs, and research fellows. The
AENS was founded to promote the collaborative study, development of medical
research, and innovations in the treatment of extremity nerve disease. Its
membership fosters the principles of nerve surgery of Dr. A. Lee Dellon,
Professor of Plastic and Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medical School and
founder of the renowned Dellon Decompression
surgical technique.

Dr. Jacoby is currently the organization's 2009 Vice-President. As the 2010
President, he will lead the AENS in defining its reputation as a leader in
medical research and treatment of extremity nerve disease. Through
extensive study and outreach, the group is focused on determining the
causes of nerve disease, and bringing relief to sufferers of neuropathy in
the feet, legs, and other areas of the lower extremity. As President, Dr.
Jacoby plans to devote greater energy and research to understanding and
finding breakthrough solutions to cure diabetic polyneuropathy.
"It is a tremendous honor to lead the AENS and its members into the next
year," Jacoby said. "My goal as President for 2010 is to further the work
of Dr. Dellon in conquering diabetic polyneuropathy. We are embarking on
multiple different research projects that should produce major
breakthroughs in the next year."
"Dr. Jacoby has been extremely dedicated to the AENS as Vice-President and
as a member of our Research Committee," said AENS 2009 President Damien
Dauphinee, DPM, FACFAS, CWS. "He brings many years of service to AENS
through lectures, workshops, and update courses throughout the
organization's history. I sincerely look forward to his tenure as AENS
President and know he will make great strides in furthering our goals for
2010."
Those goals include working to foster open dialogue on contemporary ideas
for peripheral nerve pathology and treatment by aligning with similar
professional associations, including becoming a Clinical Interest
Organization with the American Podiatric Medical Association. The AENS is
well on its way to becoming the premier source of up-to-date peripheral
nerve research and treatment for the specialty of podiatric medicine and
surgery.
