MIDVALE, Utah - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Wavelink Corporation (www.wavelink.com) today announced the availability of Wavelink Terminal Emulation (TE) 7.2, the newest version of the industry's most widely deployed software for extending mission-critical applications to mobile workers. The new release improves the user interface, streamlines the addition of voice features, provides advanced scripting tools and adds Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) enhancements.

"As a pioneer in the industry, Wavelink built a large install base and a dominant market share in emulation technology," said Mikkel Storm, Wavelink senior product manager. "We have maintained and grown our customer base by continually innovating and adding new features that provide ease of use and improve user productivity."

Wavelink TE helps businesses increase automation, productivity and efficiency. It provides the only complete client-side voice solution, through Wavelink Speakeasy , for accessing host-based applications. With Wavelink TE, businesses can accept multiple input sources such as scanning, voice, RFID and keyboard entry. New features for Terminal Emulation 7.2 include:

  • Updated Screen Reformatter – The WYSIWYG Screen Reformatter now makes it even easier to voice-enable text and input fields and redesign the application user interface. The tool is now available as a standalone product via ActiveSync or Motorola's Airbeam. It includes advanced formatting features, such as double-height and double-width characters, and has improved undo/redo handling.
  • Enhanced script editor – Additions of a menu bar, tool bar and status bar to the user interface enable easy navigation. A Script Editor Debugger quickly identifies potential errors and takes the administrator to the error location, and detailed help information is available by clicking on a build error message. Script Editor is available as a standalone via ActiveSync or Motorola's Airbeam.
  • Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) support – Users can create customized Host Profiles to connect to a WWAN, such as a cellular network, when the wireless LAN is not available. It can be set to automatically disconnect a WWAN when all sessions using it are disconnected.

Wavelink Terminal Emulation has more than 3 million clients deployed in mission-critical supply chain environments for thousands of companies, including 90 percent of North America's top 25 retailers. The software ships on more mobile devices than all of its competitors combined.

Wavelink Terminal Emulation 7.2 is now available as a free upgrade to customers with maintenance agreements and can be purchased through Wavelink partners. For more details, please visit http://www.wavelink.com/emulators.
