GUATEMALA CITY - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Guatemala, Heart of the Mayan World, has a new website, www.visitguatemala.com. INGUAT, the Guatemalan Office of Tourism, brings national and international attention to Guatemala's tourism information through this medium by creating a renovated image full of color and a photo gallery with scenic pictures of Guatemala taken by the country's top photographers.

The new website is recognized for its visual appeal that allows for easy and user-friendly navigation suitable for visitors of all ages. The site's categories use an international language written in words and phrases spoken by everyday people. The information displayed covers general information about Guatemala, areas, regions, tourism services, maps, travel advice, embassies, national treasures, and the most visited destinations that showcase the essence of Guatemala, its historical legacy, nature and modernity.

"We have created this new website in Spanish and English because we want to highlight Guatemala's tourism potential with a tool as powerful and fast as the Internet. The images, combined with the information in each place, turn into an attractive invitation for everyone that searches for a different type of tourism, in which a visitor can combine adventure and fun with the richness of Mayan culture and legacy yet alive in our country," states Roberto Robles, Director of INGUAT.

In this new version of the website, multimedia plays an important role. Included in the site are videos powered by YouTube, PowerPoint presentations, marimba music, the National Anthem of Guatemala and photo galleries that will be contributed to by national and international aficionados and professionals.

"Send a Post Card" is a section that puts the best photographs in the site at users' fingertips. Visitors will input their information, and then may send pictures of Guatemala to loved ones' cell phones and e-mail addresses.

www.visitguatemala.com is a marketing platform and part of a series of strategic actions that INGUAT is creating to increase Guatemala's potential tourism in conjunction with a brand that represents the essence of Guatemala, Heart of the Mayan World.
