United Automobile Insurance Deploys Guidewire for Claims - Success Leads to Selection of Guidewire for Billing
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. & SAN MATEO, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC), one of the largest privately
held property and casualty insurers in the U.S., and Guidewire Software,
a leading provider of flexible core systems to property/casualty
insurers, today announced that UAIC has successfully deployed Guidewire
ClaimCenter as its new end-to-end claims management system. The company
has also selected Guidewire BillingCenter to provide single system
agency- and direct-bill functionality for its entire organization.
UAIC deployed ClaimCenter in February 2009, to 12 markets, across two
lines of business, and did so within a one year time frame. The IT
department was able to commit to aggressive deadlines and deliver the
functionalities and integrations needed by the business, enabling it to
be more productive, efficient, and deliver greater value to company
operations. The full implementation, which consolidated or replaced
multiple claims handling systems, also included data conversion for all
markets which proved to be a huge benefit as users dealt with just one
system during the legacy migration to ClaimCenter.
"With ClaimCenter, we gained a much more proficient, flexible and usable
system improving the claims handling," said Abraham Estevez, chief
information officer, UAIC. "Claims data is now collected in a more
normalized manner; improved reporting capability and best practice
enforcement (as needed) using business rules and automated workflows,
has resulted in better decision-making."
"Our ClaimCenter experience with Guidewire was so positive, that when it
came time to select a replacement billing system, we knew just where to
turn," Estevez adds. "BillingCenter has all the flexibility and
functionality we have come to expect in a Guidewire system. Not only
will we be able to improve the quality of services to our agents and
customers, our customer services department will be working on a
state-of-the-art application to help make their jobs more accurate,
enjoyable and efficient."
Guidewire BillingCenter will enable UAIC to:
-
Improve operational efficiencies through use of automated business
rules and system's intuitive user interface;
-
Better respond to customer service inquiries through use of built-in
trouble tickets;
-
Reduce commission statement turnaround times and billing cycle times;
and
-
Provide greater integration flexibility with internal and external
systems through Guidewire's SOA/Java based platform and architecture.
"We are especially proud when a customer's good experience with us leads
them to consider Guidewire for their additional needs," said John
Raguin, chief executive officer, Guidewire Software. "UAIC will be able
to leverage the skills their team acquired while deploying ClaimCenter
for their BillingCenter implementation. This is an excellent way for
carriers to lower their deployment costs and reduce project timeframes."
Guidewire ClaimCenter is a leading end-to-end claims management system,
built from the ground up to meet the specific needs of today's
property/casualty insurers. ClaimCenter's flexible business rules enable
claims organizations to define, enforce, and continually refine their
preferred claim handling practices in order to optimize and monitor
claim processes. ClaimCenter is in use by insurers of all sizes across
all product lines to improve speed and accuracy, reduce loss adjustment
expense, and enable proactive management of property/casualty claims.
Guidewire BillingCenter is a comprehensive billing system designed to:
make it easier for insurers to manage agent commissions; automate the
billing lifecycle; design flexible billing, payment and delinquency
plans; and enable rapid integration with external payment systems - i.e.
EFT, EBPP, check writing, payroll deduction, etc.
ClaimCenter and BillingCenter are built on the same platform and have
been designed for maximum flexibility and scalability. Both are
available as standalone systems or as part of the Guidewire Insurance
Suite and can readily be integrated to an insurer's existing systems or
