Nationalist Nepalese Hands Memo to Nepal Prime Minister
The group of Nationalist Nepalese led by Mr. Bishal Bikram Shah handed over memorandum to the Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal who visited the United States to take part in the UN General Convention. The group among others included Dr. Kamal Pande and writer Kamala Prasai.
The Nationalist Nepalese rejected the issue of changing the existing national flag of Nepal as something unpalatable and unwarranted, and has urged the Prime Minister Madhav Kumar of Nepal not to go ahead with the same.
The seven-point MoU, signed by the Advisor of the UNN, Bishal Bikram Shah and Ashutosh Shrivastav, Secretary General, UNN, has also stated that it would be wise to nullify the decision on monarchy and religious nature of the country by way of opting for fresh referendum to again determine these issues.
Among others, the MoU has also demanded the continuation of the Nepali language as an official one apart from adopting strict policy to resolve border dispute with India and protect territorial integrity of the country.
The memorandum also stated not to show the dream to the youths used by the Maoists that they will be integrated into the Nepal Army. Instead, the methods should be devised to make them educated and employed in different sectors.
