The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) SportsUnited Office is bringing a delegation of baseball-playing youth from Taiwan to Washington, D.C. and Chicago, IL to experience baseball in the United States from September 21- October 2, 2009. The program will feature special events with baseball legend and Hall of Famer Ernie Banks and current Washington Nationals star slugger Adam Dunn.

The schedule for the delegation of four girls and six boys, ages 13-15, and two coaches includes a tour of Nationals Park and a Washington Nationals game vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers, hosted by Adam Dunn. While there, the delegation will meet Hong-Chih Kuo and Chin-Iung Hu, two players from Taiwan on the roster of the L.A. Dodgers. The group will also have the opportunity to attend a day of baseball clinics at the Ripken Baseball Academy in Aberdeen, Maryland.

In Chicago, "Mr. Cub" Ernie Banks will lead the group on a tour of Wrigley Field. The delegation will also attend a Chicago Cubs game and meet with coaches from Major League Baseball's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Program.

This ECA Sports Visitor program introduces foreign youth to sports in America, through visits and clinics at high schools, clubs, and universities. In addition, all of the exchange programs provide guidance to the participants about nutrition, strength and conditioning, Title IX, sports and disabilities, and team building.
