Foreign Minister of Nepal, Sujata Koirala, to Visit Chicago
CHICAGO - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Sujata Koirala, the Foreign Minister of Nepal, (a position comparable to
that of United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton) is visiting
Chicago prior to her appearance at the United Nations General Assembly.
She is being joined by the Acting Ambassador of Nepal from Washington,
D.C. and a delegation of five others which will include cabinet member,
the Minister of Health, who recently decided to join her. (It should be
noted that it has been suggested Foreign Minister Koirala be appointed
for the additional position of Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal.)
Marvin A. Brustin, Honorary Consul General of Nepal, will host the
Foreign Minister of Nepal at a luncheon to be held at the Woman's
Athletic Club, 626 N. Michigan, Chicago, at noon on Tuesday, September
22nd, Expected attendance includes numerous prominent political, civic
and business leaders as well as the Chicago Diplomatic Corps. The
Foreign Minister is anticipated to make a major address and discuss her
desire and methods of further improving American-Nepal relations. In
light of Nepal recently becoming a Republic many questions may arise
from the audience that she will address. The press is invited to cover
this event and pose questions if they wish.
Earlier in the day the Foreign Minister will have a private meeting with
Mayor Daley to discuss matters of mutual interest to Nepal and Chicago.
