Folsom Police Arrest Four in Alcohol Enforcement

The Folsom Police Department and the California Alcohol Beverage Control conducted an operation Thursday night targeting adults and merchants who provide minors with access to alcoholic beverages.

Investigators made four arrests for furnishing alcohol to a minor less than 21 years of age: Youha Chun, 34, of Roseville; Lauralee Lewis, 51, of Auburn ; Chandler Clemons, 21, of Washington; and Michael Larson, 52, a transient. Clerk Surjeet Boparai, 44, of Sacramento was arrested for selling alcohol to (Larson) an obviously intoxicated person. With the exception of Larson who was booked for public intoxication, the other four suspects were cited and released on the misdemeanor charges.

All five suspects face up to $1000 in fines and/or community service.

Boparai's arrest marked the second time in less than a month that a clerk at Discount Food and Liquor (700 East Bidwell Street) was arrested for alcohol violations. On August 13th clerk Lorene Snyder, 39, of Folsom was cited and released for selling alcohol to a minor. The business will face additional administrative actions from ABC.

Detective Roman Kehm said "We will continue our efforts to reduce minors' access to alcoholic beverages. This is a warning to adults out there; if your conscience doesn't stop you from purchasing alcohol for minors, we will."

This operation was conducted in partnership with ABC. The Folsom Police Department was awarded a Grant Assistance Program to conduct alcoholic beverage enforcement and education during the 2009/2010 fiscal year. Funds for this program are generated through licensing fees and have no impact on the California general fund.
