Zurich in North America Leads Panel Discussion at Chicago 2016 and the City of Chicago's First Summit on Sport and Sustainability
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Zurich in North America is helping Chicago 2016's vision for the first
Blue-GreenTM Games by participating in the Chicago Summit on
Sport and Sustainability. Julie Dunai, head of Zurich North America
Commercial's Environmental unit will lead a discussion about
"Environmental Risks in Large Construction Projects."
Zurich is supporting Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic
Games and was asked to participate in the Summit due to its position as
a leading provider of environmental and construction insurance
solutions. In January 2008, Zurich Financial Services Group (Zurich)
launched its market-focused global Climate Initiative with the primary
goal to understand the emerging weather, financial and regulatory risks
associated with climate change and to develop products and services that
help customers cope with these risks.
Dunai will discuss ways to help overcome challenges when creating a
truly sustainable design for a project or sporting venue with the
following panelists:
-
Terry Brickman, national director of quality management for PCL
Construction Enterprises, Inc. and a Zurich customer
-
Peter A. Braithwaite, senior program manager of Sustainability for
CLM/CH2M Hill
-
John Register, Paralympic Silver medalist and associate director of
Community and Military Programs for United States Olympic Committee
"Each of our panelists brings an interesting perspective to this
important discussion about creating a building design that is not
changed through contract, value engineering and contractor
alternatives," said Dunai. "Terry has experience with helping build the
new Vancouver Convention Centre for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and
Paralympic Games; Peter is responsible for delivering the Olympic
Delivery Authority's Sustainable Development Strategy for the Olympic
Park, Village and other off-site venues for the 2012 Olympic and
Paralympic Games in London; and John's experience as a Paralympian will
provide valuable insight not only for Chicago's vision for a Blue-Green
Games, but for furthering the discussion of sustainability around the
world."
Dunai continued, "Zurich is fortunate to host a panel with first-hand
experience in creating worldwide environmentally sustainable Games. I
look forward to advancing the dialogue and having a lively discussion."
Chicago 2016 and the City of Chicago first Chicago Summit on Sport and
Sustainability will take place on September 10-11, 2009. For more
