Kate Beckinsale Scared Of Alcohol

Kate Beckinsale was petrified she would die if she drank alcohol while making her latest film.

The 'Whiteout' actress was warned sipping on the beverages could seriously damage her health due to the sub zero temperatures while shooting in Antarctica.

She said: "I never really drink but even if I did we were all told it wasn't a good idea in such cold conditions.

"They say that you're more prone to get frostbite or hypothermia or sudden adult death syndrome after drinking so we all thought it best to give it a miss."

Kate plays US Marshal Carrie Stetko in the new movie, a fearless woman who follows a killer to Antarctica just as sunlight is about to disappear for six months.

Kate, 36, naively didn't expect the region to be as cold as it was, and thought people were making too much fuss about the plunging temperatures.

She explained: "The cold? Oh yeah. They said it's going be really cold and I thought, 'Well, I've worked in Prague and I've worked in Budapest.' I'm always wearing fewer clothes than everybody else in the movie so I felt I'd handle it.

"It was just a different level of cold. I think it was minus 58 Fahrenheit when we were there, where you just can't believe it."
