Look out Northern California... fasten your seatbelts and make sure your tray tables are locked in the upright position! Over 120 military and civilian aircraft will be thundering into town this September for the fourth annual California Capital Airshow. The region will celebrate Air Force Week Sacramento from September 5-13th, one of only three events of its kind in the US this year.

In just four short years, The California Capital Airshow has grown to be one of the largest in the nation, with an expected attendance of over 100,000 this year. Extensive planning and added efficiencies will ensure convenient access to the show, including FREE transportation on light rail and buses delivering you directly to the main gate from Mills Station.

Never before have airshow organizers joined in their efforts to inspire so many by sharing their remarkable aircraft.

'Aviation Dream Week', running through September 20th, is widely popular and offers a cost savings for Reno/Sacramento area aviation buffs. "This is just a natural union," says LT. John Thompson, Director of the Naval Air Station Fallon Airshow, taking place on Friday, September 11th, "Seeing the Blue Angels Friday and the Thunderbirds in the very same weekend, I feel like an 8 year old with balloons and cotton candy." Avid fans and first-time airshow attendees alike will be awestruck at the incredible collection of almost 90 modern and vintage aircraft on display. The aerobatic performers, warbirds, wingwalkers, and Patriots Jets are nothing short of amazing, but you will never forget the amazing feats of the USAF Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team and the F-22 Raptor.

Get an up close look at 'Glacier Girl'. The famous WWII P-38 Lightning from the 'Lost Squadron', recently recovered from beneath 250 feet of ice on the southern tip of Greenland.

Also meet the P-51 Mustang, T-28 Trojan, T-6 Texan, seaplanes, helicopters, and so much more. Military displays include the C-5 Galaxy, F-15 Strike Eagle, F-18 Hornet, and B-52 Stratofortress. You may even catch a glimpse of the elusive B-2 Stealth Bomber, as it marks its 20th year in operation. This is a unique opportunity to not only get the story behind these special aircraft, but also to hear firsthand the moving stories and experiences of the pilots that flew them.

All of this adds up to a cost-efficient weekend of family fun, a "staycation" right in California's Capital City. "With many families limiting their budgets during these economic times, airshows across the country are seeing a 20% increase in attendance. We're expecting a big turnout, and with all of the great activities available for all ages, not to mention terrific weather, this is one show you won't want to miss," said Darcy Brewer, Executive Director of the California Capital Airshow.

From general admission for the whole family (kids 12 and under FREE) to comfortable reserved flight line seating and even the posh Governor's Club tent complete with refreshments and VIP treatment... there is a special place for everyone. Join in the festivities with the chic gala, "Jets & Jazz" held at Mather Airport from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM on Saturday, September 12. This $60 ticket includes dinner, music, beverages, parking, and a very exclusive opportunity to meet the performers. Proceeds from the California Capital Airshow support a scholarship program that promotes interest in aviation and aerospace careers in the Northern California region. Over 60 scholarships have been awarded in the past three years.
