MOPS Launches Movement @ Annual Convention to Ensure No Mom Is Alone, Providing Community & Support to Mothers Everywhere

      

DENVER, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- MOPS International launches the No Mom Alone movement at its annual convention. Explore Life on Planet Mom with over 4,000 moms from across the U.S. & around the globe at the MOPS Convention in Nashville, TN, Sept. 24-26.

Becoming a mother is like landing on a different planet. The joy of mothering can be overshadowed by feelings of insecurity and isolation but moms can build supportive relationships and find travel companions "Together on Planet Mom." When a mom experiences new motherhood, it can be as overwhelming as it is exciting. Even experienced moms can feel frustration in the season of early mothering with infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Isolation during this mothering season can lead to negative yet preventable outcomes, including depression, self-neglect and child abuse. MOPS International is an organization that is focused on reaching every mom so that moms do not have to handle mothering alone. Life on Planet Mom means finding community, friendship and support in local MOPS groups across the nation and around the world.

No Mom Alone

Moms at convention will participate in promoting the New Mom Gift Project as part of the No Mom Alone movement. Participants will write encouraging notes to new mothers and help raise money for new mom gift packages. 19,000 gift packages will be distributed to new mothers at hospitals and pregnancy centers this year. The New Mom Gift Project offers a tangible way to welcome moms into the community of mothering, providing resources to promote community and prevent isolation.

Sept. 24-26 in Nashville, TN, at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center, over 3,800 volunteer leaders who help moms make vital connections with other moms will gather for training, inspiration and networking. These volunteer leaders, mothers themselves, serve several hours each month with MOPS International to facilitate MOPS groups where moms can find a support network and grow as women, mothers and leaders. The MOPS International headquarters staff works alongside these mom volunteers to provide strategic direction, leadership training and resources to equip and mobilize moms into leaders.
