Small Business Defies Logic: Growing Domestically in the Recession While Exporting to China!

NEW YORK, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite the recession, the New York based quick serve restaurant Just Salad has more than doubled its size in the last eight months by adding two new locations in both Manhattan and Hong Kong. Following the immediate success of their first three locations at 320 Park Avenue, 134 W. 37th Street and 100 Maiden Lane, Just Salad has shown no signs of slowing down. Just Salad's fourth location, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, opened its doors on April 3, 2009, and the lines began forming immediately while its 5th location 600 Third Avenue is experiencing similar results. Just Salad's chef and registered dietitian, Laura Pensiero, attributes the company's recent success to the growing trend of people simply wanting to eat healthy: "Despite--or perhaps because of-- people working long hours in a difficult economy, consumers are more concerned with their physical and mental well-being than ever before. As a result, demand for healthy quality food served fast continues to thrive." While the company prospers stateside, its Asian counterpart continues to flourish as well.

Just Salad continues to make a name for its self in Hong Kong with its second international opening in 8 months at Shop C1, G/F, World-Wide House, 19 Des-Voeux Road Central. After the marked success of their first Hong Kong location at 30-34 Cochrane Street in Central, Just Salad was quick to realize that Hong Kong would provide a great second home. Clientele in both New York City and Hong Kong consistently demand quality product served fast. With the extensive variety of options at Just Salad, customization is the name of the game, and the citizens of Hong Kong love the flexibility of choice. Sourced from local markets, the Hong Kong menu offers a few unique twists on the Just Salad New York menu such as octopus, crab and a yuzu dressing. After the success of the move, Just Salad is looking to continue expansion and form partnership agreements with several groups in cities across the continent.
