WATERTOWN, Mass. and BELFAST, Maine - (BUSINESS WIRE) - athenahealth, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHN), a leading provider of internet-based
business services to physician practices, today announced athenahealth's
Maine Operations Center has been named as one of the 2009 Best Places
to Work in Maine. The awards program was created in 2006 and is a
project of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) - Maine
State Council. Partners endorsing the program include: Employment
Times, Maine and Company, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and Mainebiz.
The 2009 Best Places to Work in Maine program is sponsored by
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify,
recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting
the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2009 list
is made up of 24 companies in the small/medium-sized list (15-249
employees) and 7 companies in the large-sized list (250+ employees).
"athenahealth is honored to have been selected as one of Maine's best
places to work as our employees and culture are our most valued assets
and essential to our goal to be medical groups' most trusted business
service," said David Tassoni, Vice President of Operations for
athenahealth Maine. "Since athenahealth's expansion to Maine less than
two years ago we have been able to hire over 200 employees and create a
culture that has allowed us to attract and build a workforce that now
plays a critical role in supporting our growing national physician
network."
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to
determine the rankings. The first part consisted of evaluating each
nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics.
This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total
evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure
the employee experience. This part of the process was worth
approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores
determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group
managed the overall registration and survey process in Maine and also
analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final
rankings.
athenahealth will be recognized and honored at the 2009 Best
Places to Work in Maine awards ceremony on October 13th
and will be profiled in a special publication by Mainebiz. The
final rankings will be announced at the event.
