Senator Kennedy Was a Great Friend of Immigrants

We, the Nepali Americans and friends from Massachusetts and across U.S, are saddened about the loss of the lion of the U.S. Senate, Senator Edward Kennedy.

Senator Kennedy was a great friend of immigrants and those who needed help. In his unending quest to provide many services, the great American, influence many lives and touched their hearts. As chairman of Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP) he brought on about many domestic achievements. He was responsible for increasing the minimum wage, expanding civil rights, and for promoting health care and many more.

We, ANA and GBNC, mourn his passing and send our heartfelt condolences to the grief stricken family, friends, and well wishers. He is gone but his work abides.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dream shall never die."- Senator Edward Kennedy 1932-2009. May his soul rest in peace.

Association of Nepalis in the Americas (ANA) is an organization of the people of Nepali origin in the Americas and international friends of Nepal. ANA was founded on July 1983 in New York and Incorporated in Washington DC in 1983 as a nonprofit tax exempt organization. Since its inception ANA has grown steadily as an international organization attracting a diverse membership that includes resident Nepalis in the Americas and many other international scholars, scientists, outdoor enthusiasts, and philanthropists who share an interest in the Nepali Culture.

The Greater Boston Nepali Community (GBNC) is a thriving association of Nepalis and friends of Nepal living in and around the Boston area. Over thousands people comprise this diverse group of students, professionals, families and workers. GBNC had its roots in the pro-democracy movement of 1990 and has been organizing community with many activities and has accomplished much.
