Firearm Owners and Seniors Coalesce Against Obama Agenda, Says Gun Law Expert

WASHINGTON, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- "Public reaction to Obama's policies is uniting senior citizens and firearm owners against greater government control of American society," says gun rights expert John M. Snyder of Telum Associates.

"Seniors oppose Obama health care proposals at town hall meetings throughout the country while gun sales spike during this period of economic difficulty because of concern about prospective Obama gun control policies," he added.

"Americans have been buying millions of firearms over the last 11 months. Seniors adamantly oppose Obama's plans for government control of health care at summer town hall meetings."

Snyder observed, "Obama has stimulated citizen voters to oppose the ideological agenda espoused by him and other saps - self-appointed progressives - in politics and the media."

A former National Rifle Association editor, Snyder is Public Affairs Director of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

"It's time for rational Democrats to think seriously about dumping the Obama agenda," said Snyder, recently named the senior rights activist in Washington by Shotgun News.

Snyder noted polling data indicates Obama's approval ratings are heading downward. He said Obama's fall from his popular vote high last November is staggering when compared with Bush's minority vote total in November 2000 and his climb to the mid-fifties approval rating in the summer of 2001. "By comparison with Bush's climb, Obama's fall seems like a nosedive, and he's taking his party with him," said Snyder.

"Obama began his administration by angering America's 100 million gun owners with his appointment of Eric Holder as attorney general and Holder's proposal to reinstitute the Clinton era's failed ban on certain semiautomatic firearms," said Snyder.

"The anti-gun owner nature of Obama's administration was underscored when his first nominee to the Supreme Court said under confirmation questioning she did not even know if individuals have a right to self-defense," stated Snyder.

"When Obama said he would push for ratification of CIFTA, a proposed inter-American gun control convention, he gave further evidence not only of his intent to undermine American sovereignty but also of his opposition to millions of Americans' gun rights," Snyder said.

"Obama is further angering American voters with his promotion of health care policies anathema to millions of Americans across the board," Snyder observed.
