Graffiti Night Classic Car Show Sizzles on Sutter Street

By

The Graffiti Night Classic Car Show will be taking place on Sutter Street this Saturday, August 29, 2009. The show is so big that four blocks of Sutter Street - 600, 700, 800 and 900 blocks - will be closed for the event, from 10 am to 10 pm.

More than 160 classic cars will be displayed throughout the street and at least seven quarter-mile drag cars down by the turntable. Live bands and entertainment will be seen and heard on the 600 block and in the Hacienda Parking lot, including the Spazmatics and "Cash Only," the Johnny Cash tribute band.

Organizers expect thousands of people to attend this free event. Radio and television advertisements have been playing all week.

The event, organized by "The Cappuccino Cruisers" and the Folsom Historic District Association is the first time it has been run in the historic district.

"It's going to put Folsom on the map for such an event"
Ray Marchese, Cappuccino Cruisers

Ray Marchese says "Guys, slick back your hair and girls put on your Poodle Skirts and Dancing Shoes and be ready for a night of 'Cool Cars and Beboppin' to the oldies and a trip back in time in Historic Folsom."

Ray tells us that four local charitable organizations benefit from the event. Twin Lakes Food Bank, Folsom Zoo, Folsom Mounted Patrol and Mercy Hospital of Folsom.

The best parking is in the parking garage. An area of the roundhouse parking lot will not be available. In addition, three rows of parking will not be available in the lot on Liedesdorff and Wool between 10-12 pm, because it will be used for car staging. This area will open up right after the cars are staged.

The event starts at noon and ends by 9 pm, so the street will open back up at 10 pm.

FolsomLocalNews.com thanks Shannon Cheyne, Folsom Historic District Association Manager and Ralph Beard over at the Folsom Grocery Outlet for some of this information.
