Manuel Capó, Founder of El Dorado Furniture, Will Be Honored with a Street Name in the City of Miami

The street named "Manolo Capó Way" will be at the location of his first Store at Miami's "Little Havana" . This is located at S.W. 25th Avenue between SW 7 St. and SW 8 St. Manuel founded his furniture business "El Dorado Furniture" right here 42 years ago.

This street not only represents the location of his first store but the meaning of the American Dream. Manuel and 2 of his seven sons fled Cuba in 1966 in search of Freedom on a small boat he named "El Dorado". Just 7 months after arriving in the U.S., Manuel started his business with help from the Small Business Administration.

Today, El Dorado has eleven stores in the South Florida market, with over 700 employees; it is among the top fifty U.S. furniture retailers in the country and the largest Hispanic-owned Furniture Company in the U.S.

Manuel was an example of the success that can come from hard work and dedication. He was always committed to his roots and was loyal to the community that saw his company grow. His contributions, to the community, directly and indirectly, are immeasurable.

There will be a brief ceremony to unveil the street sign followed by some refreshments inside the store. All who wish to attend are invited to this historic moment.
