The First Non-fiction Book Written About Surviving Inside the Superdome During Hurricane Katrina Is Available

  Share With Friends

EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- As the 4th anniversary of Katrina approaches, the author shares where he felt the media got it right and wrong in their coverage, the incredible power of fear that controlled the emotions of those inside the Dome, the dynamics of "Groupthink," and a discussion of what actually took place in that dank environment.

The author, who has visited New Orleans eight times as a tourist, bares his soul in this memoir, complete with personal photographs he took in and around the Superdome. In addition, such factoids as the airport, train, and bus station being closed the day prior to the mandatory evacuation was issued are discussed. Also not commonly known was that there was a large group of mainly white international students who the author was able to hook up with. Later they all would be "smuggled" out of the Dome after 3 days to the Sports Arena and the following day to the Hyatt Regency Hotel where Mayor Nagin was at his command post. All of this was done covertly to avoid possible rioting. Later, many within the group were caught looting from the Hyatt.

The book, which has received all 5-star ratings on Amazon.com as well as being the winner of the New Covey Cover Awards for the "Most Eye-Catching Cover," April 2009 (http://thenewcoveycoverawards.blogspot.com/search/label/Award%20Recipients), offers tips to readers on how to better prepare for future disasters of all sorts both mentally and practically, and of crucial importance, tips to emergency responders about how to maintain better communication with victims and evacuees.

The author has pledged 25% of all of his profits from the sales of new books to local non-profit charitable organizations in the New Orleans area.
