Blinds and Curtains Boost Sales During Credit Crunch at Terrys Fabrics

Sales at Stockport/Stoke based Terrys Fabrics have received a massive boost from the trend towards DIY. With increasing number of homeowners choosing to literally Do It Themselves when it comes to designing and updating their houses - it is instead the Interior Designers themselves who are feeling the pinch.

Not so long ago it was not unheard of for homeowners to spend hours meeting and briefing designers in their own homes, requiring full mood boards, samples and cost estimates (often the more expensive the better) before even contemplating going ahead with the project. Hours could be spent agreeing the smallest detail often resulting in spiralling costs and delays.

Stockport/Stoke based Terrys Fabrics - the supplier of quality curtains, homewares and blinds helping you to transform your home for less, have in the last three months seen a huge increase in the demand for their in-store Interior Design service.

Paul McGuinness, of Terrys Fabrics, explains:

"In today's tough economic climate homeowners are having to be more pragmatic about how they approach design projects in their homes. They are too busy to run around managing an Interior Designer - with the threat of redundancy in many industries simply going to work is a much higher priority for them. Additionally, people may need to reduce their costs but they don't want to compromise on the look of a particular room - by doing it themselves they can often more than halve the cost of a specific project.

"Our in-store team is trained to give advice on the basics such as measuring up correctly, how to co-ordinate fabrics and materials and how to dress a window to enhance a room. However, they are also able to help customers with more complex design issues and have often worked with a customer to re-design their entire home. This expertise combined with the huge range of great value fabrics and accessories we stock is helping us to convert increasing numbers of customers to Terrys Fabrics and away from specialist Interior Design firms. We are looking forward to building on this success and growing our business further.
