Companies have a right, and indeed a responsibility to their stockholders, to pull their advertisements from controversial TV programs that damage their brand.
I commend Geico, Proctor & Gamble and Progressive Insurance for pulling their ads, had they not done so it would have been a tacit approval of Glenn's hateful and divisive rhetoric.
Fox News has carved out a successful niche pandering to the lunatic right. Beck is not an aberration, the cable Fox News has a stable of right-wing nut job commentators like Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly.
Beck's program does very well in the ratings, but if most of his advertisers drop him, Fox may be forced to kick him to the curb.
Beck is the biggest crybaby in the entertainment business, he gets misty-eyed at the drop of a hat. Maybe Murine eye drops can pick up the slack, and advertise on his show.
Geico and the other companies did the right thing by pulling their ads. I hope Beck's listeners also do the right thing, and find a more enlightened program to watch. Hint: MSNBC has a few really good news-oriented shows.
Pro Glenn Beck
It seems Reyes knows all about fanaticism, being so far to the left, was it difficult to pull his head out, to write the story. Being of a different opinion to the left is no longer allowed, just follow blindly little sheep.
- Dad
Let's get Reyes "kicked to the curb" as he so eloquently wrote. I could have found a 10 year old who could have written a less immature op-ed piece like this.
- S.W.
I will withdraw my support for advertisers that boycott Glenn Beck
-Duane
I love Glenn Beck. He "Tells It Like It Is". I Love His Show. Never Miss It. Go Glenn!
- Joe
The Liberal Left are the nut cases in our country. How can you possibly support a president that is digging a hole so deep that it will take generations to pay for all his projects. Obama is a smart yet unsavvy newcomer who hasn't yet gained the confidence of the majority in the United States citizens. Look at the deficit for God's sake. Look at the people he surrounds himself with and has for years. Talk about nut cases. The Liberal Left is going to be the demise of the United States of America.
- Moyer
Fox News is the only news channel that actually reports all the news and then expects their viewers to think for themselves. You encourge viewers to switch to the liberal, left wing news channels who report only the news that promote their agenda. Fox is the #1 news channel because they report all teh news and give their viewers an opportunity to think for themselves. I'll switch my insurance from Geico and stop buying P&G products.
- Phyllis
Can't find any, "really good news-oriented shows on MSNBC" please enlighten me!
- Olydarts
MSLSD sucks. Glenn Beck at least has a soul. You don't allow people to voice any opinion other than yours. Gutlesss Liberal that you are!
- Kathy
I agree that advertisers have the right to pull their ads - it's a free market. But, to criticize Beck for his opinions goes against the Constitution and free speech. You share your opinions about him; and, he has shared his about the President - tit for tat.
- Andy
Fox news is the only one that stands up for Americans. Obama is a white hater and should be removed from office. We need the Glenn Beck's and Bill O'Reilly's to balance against NBC, CBS, ABC!
- Ronald
MSNBC has a few really good news oriented shows? They are extremely left-wing. Nice try, but O'Reilly isn't a right-wing nut job. Fox News kicks CNN and MSNBC's rear end, and they and the left-wing "nut jobs" just can't stand it. Just maybe conservative TV and radio, with their incredible ratings, happen to be what most of America likes to watch and listen to. Did this ever occur to you?
- John
All I can say to this story is it is more than scary how the other networks have gained complete control of the news in this country. Fox News is the only network showing another point of view that the others never want to discuss. That is just what happened in Russia and lots of other countries taken over by smooth talkers with offers to make everyone equal, whether you have ever worked a day in your life or not!
- Ed
Glenn Beck is correct in his statement. If a black person calls a white person racist that is ok whether it is the truth or not. But if a white person calls a black person racist, even though the statement is accurate, then he is a bigot. President Obama was in a church that was racist and he listened to his minister for many years doing nothing to quieten the racist remarks. The whole democrat party is racist for they believe that especially blacks need coddling and special privileges. I have a great black friend and other black acquaintances and they do not need coddling or special support. A good part of the black population have been conditioned into welfare recipients.
- Roy
Reyes is mistaken and certainly not focused on what is good for America! Ask yourself who owns Progressive Insurance? I really wish they would pull those misleading ads from FOX altogether, they were 34% higher than my current carrier. I am not a "so called" right winger. All one has to do to discover the left wing bias from most media sources is read and watch. FOX News is, without question, the most fair and balanced source for people who can actually think. Without exception the people at FOX present both sides.
- Bob
You say "MSNBC has a few really good news-oriented shows". Does that include The Ed Show where Ed Schultz referred to the vocal town hall meeting attendees as mostly 'geezers'. Apparently, Ed doesn't look in the mirror. Or, does it include Chris Matthews, a very unexciting man who tries to MC a very biased, unexciting show. He has on occasion made disparaging remarks about people who have views on Christianity that don't agree with his own. He is typical of so many people who pontificate about prejudice and bias that other people have without recognizing his own shortcomings. Unfortunately, the media has gone from reporting news (and leaving opinions on the editorial page) to outright advocating causes and supporting individuals. The only thing that makes FOX NEWS different is that they pretty much stand alone on the so called 'right'. Of course, MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, and YOU are trying to cover the so called 'left' while trying to give the illusion that you are objective. The only group that is not represented is MAINSTREAM AMERICA; and, how could these people possibly know what is really best for them.
- Robert
I think Beck should be able to say whatever he wants. The Left does and no one contradicts them.
- Renda
You should watch Fox News. Then you would understand they are reporting news fairly & allowing alternate points of view-Plus Beck is right-Obama is a racist-as evidenced by his racist accusations of the Cambridge police-I graduated from Colgate U. '79,I'm not racist-I played football & was friends with all races-You,yo' Bud-Obama Hussain(joke) & yo' Nancy Pelosi radicals are goin' to ruin the country just as yo' liberal buds in California have ruined the economics of their state-he better speed up his disasterous policys-he only has 3 1/2 years to go-LOSER makes me glad I didn't go to Harvard-Robert Paul Reyes you are a STUPID LOSER NUTTTT JOBBB
- Richard
It's too bad that the truth hurts. The advertisers don't have the strength to stand up for themselves. Glenn will be fine. Keep up the good work Glen
- Joe
Boy the Libs are scared now. We have someone telling the truth.
- Josh
If advertisers pull their ads from Beck, then so be it, but c'mon, have you ever listened to the filthy Ed Shultz and the "you will not speak on my show" Chris Mathews? Despicable describes them, especially after what they have said about Palin, Rove and Cheney.
- Kennon
Companies that pull ads because of the truth being spoken are not worthy of our
buying from them. May Glenn Beck keep on speaking the truth as he is doing regardless of the hateful comments. They who do not want the truth spoken concerning the president and others that are destroying our country should have their eyes opened to what is going on. But we know many want to be blind to truth as it makes them have some responsibility to change things.
- Janis
FOX continues to trump MSNBC and CNN in the ratings. So, is the lunatic fringe right wing the majority of TV viewers? Or, do the liberal left choose not to watch TV?
- Andy
Check MSNBC's ratings on their far left, socialist talk show hosts, Keith Olberman, Ed Schults and Rachel Maddow. Cheers for Joe Scarborough.
- Pete
I remember when the left talked about President Bush, calling him a Nazi and things not fit to print. It is okay to do this to a conservative president but not a liberal. What about free speech? I loved the comment about the great programs on MSNBC. How appropriate. They are the very ones who vilified Bush and love Obama. I intend to contact each of the companies who cancelled their sponsorship of Glenn Beck and voice my displeasure. I wouldn't watch MSNBC if it was the only station on TV.
- Doris
The nut that wrote this story is a left wing nut job. Maybe I will not spend a dime with these companies that pull their advertising. You called Bush every name you could think of for eight years and now you will go after Beck and the other conservatives if they say anything about your new liberal, racist, half wit that stole this election. Keep up the good work dividing the country. Conservatives that make up the majority of the country are getting sick of you and you just don't get it. Maybe people will boycott YOU, how does that sound?
Hard working American, ex liberal.
- Fav
Pulling the ads was a crazy move, there are as many conservatives as dems. I think Glenn Beck has a true passion for telling the truth, a pure love for the United States, and "We the People." Your Hint: MSNBC, made me cringe, they haven't spoken any truth since this presidency began. If you want to be clueless watch MSNBC is more like it. I will be changing my motorcyle insurace to a different company and leaving Progressive Monday morning.
- Linda
You are what is wrong with this nation and our slow descent to disaster. Glenn Beck has it right when he speaks about the decline of this country and the way everyone is selling themselves for greed. This country was founded on religion, not fascism and big government that runs everybody's lives.
- Tim
Ratings tell the story. Are the companies pulling out of a show with high ratings trying to tell the American people what is proper for them to hear? If so, I would ask, proper is decided by whom?
- Ruth Ann
Will they also Boycot CNN and MSNBC?
- John
Good, I hate their commercials
- LaDonna
Beck is the real deal.
- Maxine
That's fine if those companies stop advertising on the Beck show, that's their right and it's our right not to purchase their products and inform them of our choices. The key word here is 'RIGHTS', our rights are getting trampled on every day by the our new socialist government and Beck does us a service by watching, investigating, and reporting on what is happening in D.C. and around the country while the rest of us are trying to work, get work, make ends meet, and raise our families. I don't agree with everything that his show says, at least we can get info that other news outlets won't even discuss. It sure seems that a lot of politicians and networks know what we need or want better than we do. The services and products that have moved on are not the only ones available, maybe Geico should find a new lizard... or maybe they already have, the new chameleon in D.C.
- Cal
Glenn Beck uses common sense and that seems to scare the hell out of you liberal idiots. Blindly follow big government dems and pay more taxes every day.
- Romona
You have forgotten this is the United States of America the greatest country in the world. We have freedom of speech and can have our own opinions. Mr Beck just said what he feels in his heart. Many feel the same, and for the companies that have pulled their business from him they will lose money. After hearing this myself my father and brothers as well as my neighbor have all come to the same conclusion, these companies are deleted from our lives and we are canceling any association with them. When we get together with our weekly football buddies they will lose even more. Sorry but you can not mess with true Americans who have put their lives on the line to protect the freedoms we have in this great country.
- Warren
Wow, now that's some objective writing. I'll bet you were all over the CNBC crowd when they compared George Bush to Hitler. There is a reason Glenn Beck's ratings are double any show on CNBC, he has a thought provoking message. To be sure I don't always agree but it makes me think. When the President assumes that the white cop acted "stupidly" just because he was white and he knew the black man involved, what would you call it; IT'S RACISM, DUHHH! Our President chose to racially profile and you gutless wonders in the media give him a pass and say it's cool because he had him over for a beer. Listen to yourselves, you couldn't be any less objective if you tried. When someone asks to see evidence where massive government spending worked to end a recession, the media reaction is that person is racist, and hate filled. You never stop to think that maybe it's a legitimate question that a real journalist might ask. The truth, no matter the source, is still the truth.
- Team Johnson
Yeah Robert. MSNBC is a reputable, wait a minute. MSNBC is a reputable, damn it. MSNBC is a reputable, crap, my key board wont allow me to type anything so ridiculous as saying MSNBC is any kind of "news" source. Perhaps you too get a "tingling feeling" up your leg like the rest of the sheep on the left whenever you hear Obama speak. Tell me, without Fox News who would question "The Chosen One's" policies. Look around you fool, if it were just the extreme right complaining about Obama, he would have no trouble passing anything. In case you haven't noticed, the Democrats control both houses, and the White House. Simply put, they are all scared to death they are just one election away from looking for a new job, so its Obama's own party that won't allow him to pass so much of the crap he is trying to pass!
- Lindsay
You my friend are full of crap! Obviously you are one of those pansy loony leftists. I agree in a lot of ways with Beck. I don't trust Obama either. I think evryone who gets a govermnent clunker hand out should send a thank you card to everyone because we the people are going to pay for those rebates. I never agreed to that. Smooth move Obama.
- Richard
I watch Fox News along with millions of others and I take offense to the term "Lunatic Right". If it's just a "niche" as you say, why are their ratings better than CNN and MSNBC. What does that make them? The reason for this is that Americans are fed up with the liberal bias that exists in these media outlets along with CBS, NBC, ABC, the New York Times, The Washington Post, the LA Times, etc., etc, etc. Do you really think that Americans take Keith Oberman seriously? The so called "mainstream media" is totally out of touch when it comes to mainstream America and because of that, they will continue to lose subscribers, market share and credibility.
- Mark
Written like a true Left Wing "Nut Job". While you and your ilk continue your Obama Worship, the Democratic Party, headed by the craziest loon of them all (Nancy Pelosi), continues to slowly, but surely, dismantle the United States of America and everything it stands for. Instead of pretending to be a writer, perhaps you should spend your time more wisely, by doing something constructive, such as collecting roadside debris. At least then, you would be contributing to society. No Respect Intended.
- Michael
You people sound like a bunch of hankie stomping, crybaby liberals who believe everything the government says. Fox News is the ONLY network that gives us the truth!! The rest are just like you, afraid someone will get a little upset with what is said. What I say is to hell with political correctness. Say it like it is! I and my family and many of our friends will boycott any advertiser that pulls their ads from Fox News.
And yes, I am a staunch conservative Republican who believes in free speech and the idea that we should all be responsible for our actions and not blame ''daddy because he spanked me" or "mommy because she didn't love me enough", etc.,etc.,etc and ad nauseum.
- Wallace
MSNBC more crazy people working there then the local mental hospital houses, That is why there ratings are in the tank. Only the crazy people can stand to watch that programming. Atleast at FOX they use facts in their comments, even if you disagree with what they say.
- Garret
Unbelievable! You're obviously a liberal. Glenn Beck is telling the truth. Spend the time he does getting the correct information. You should read his book. All you liberals will finally see what's happening as time goes on. It's only just begun. There are more of us than you. You people make me sick!
- Kathy
You wish he would leave? Not on a bet. He tells the truth and you sir, are a bad reporter, not fair and very biased. This is America and people want to hear the truth.
- Coleen
We need to boycott the boycotters. The Dem party and their supporter sure dont like the tables turned on them, the truth is pretty scary and shakes them up when its given to them right in their kissers
- Bernard
While I don't agree with everything beck says, he is a helluva lot better than anything on msnbc. Give me a break Keith olberman, Rachel maddow, Chris Matthews! Talk about left wing commies
- Jerry
I can boycott Progressive, Proctor & Gamble, Geico etc and others, I have contacted them and advised them.
- Terry
I understand why the advertisers withdrew but agree with Beck. Obama's a scary president and one this country better look very close at as his concepts are over the top Socialism. Think the advertisers really had no choice. You're put down on Fox and endorsement of MSNBC shows how left wing you are and certainly you're not putting out an unbiased view yourself - so don't bash FOX
- Peter
You sound like the typical liberal who cannot stand debate, because you do not have any knowledge that can stand the light of true debate. Demonize, hate, ridicule and destroy the other person by any and all means. You are truly a good party machine democrat. St.Louis, Chicago etc.
- Tommy
I think you are an idiot. Glenn Beck is the best show to watch on Fox News. Anyone who drops him is stupid.
- Linda
The Democrats will put pressure anywhere they can to shut the mouths of any opposition. I hope he continues to get someone to advertise his program because the dark-side are on the move.
- Portia
I will be dropping Progressive myself. If the truth hurts then too bad.
- Robin
Interesting that someone gets criticized for telling the truth.
- Republican
Its left wing idiots like you who are the problem. You got balls to talk about people like this. You couln't hold their microphone. You're part of the phoney media that's trying to derail the country. I only wish you would lose your job like the millions of others because of this bum in the white house.
- Mike
Reyes, you are a nut job and a lap dog for Obama.
- Veteran
You are just a moron.
- Bryan
What a bunch of balderdash, to downgrade those you disagree with. Typical liberal trash talk. How do you account for Fox News having ratings clear off the scale compared to MSNBC? All advertisers have not abandoned Beck and it is folly to assume that all will. Dream on, leftist. The Democrat party (nothing democratic about the party) is running scared with the switch to more conservative ideas as middle America is waking up to the lies of the democrats.
- Phil
I'd say you and your friends at MSNBC are more on the Lunatic Left side than Fox News, Glenn Beck, and their viewers are on the lunatic right. Get your story straight. Fox news tramples the ratings of MSNBC, as well as most other news programs, because they have people like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Bill ORielly speaking out on issues that matter to MOST Americans, not to mention views on these said issues that are in line with how most Americans think and feel. NOT just a few thousand lunatic fringe right wing extremists. Remember, Obama won with a narrow margin, and last I heard his ratings are below 50%, largely because of the socialist agenda he is ramming down our throats. Read your history book you misinformed left wing lunatic! He has us square on the the road to King George's England, a country so miserable to live in many decided to risk their lives to flee from it to start a new nation, (you may have heard of it) America.
- Christian
Thanks for providing me with the list of companies that withdrew their support for the Glenn Beck Show. Now I know who I will boycott and I am going to write them right now and tell them. Then I will write to everyone in my address book to inform them that these particular companies, oh yes. and especially you Mr. Reyes, advocate the suppression of free speech and should not be supported by people that support liberty and the bill of rights. Thanks again, I must get busy, I have a lot of writing to do!
- Paul
I too will boycott the boycotters.
- Joe
In our America, Freedom of Speech still holds. For Companies like GEICO to run chicken and pull ads is so expected. Money talks I guess. Hope you can look yourself in the mirror in the morning guys. Go Glen! Go all talk radio hosts that say what they feel and hear all sides from their listeners. Big company America is so predictable.
- Susan
I'm left wondering what the context of Beck's statement was. Perhaps another police officer was checking on the welfare of a black homeowner who cried racism and the president agreed with the guy and accused the police of behaving stupidly. No, nothing like that could ever happen, could it?
- Rich
Wow! You got dumped by the organized radical right on this one. They've got their letter writers all lined up to give the hoot. There are more of us than there are of them. Be of good cheer.
- John
It surely looks like most of the comments received agree with Beck and Fox news as I also do, if the advertisers do not believe in free speech I will also not buy from them. Keep it up Beck, tell it like it is the libs hate it.
- Rick
If this is what it takes to get rid of those incessant and annoying Geico and Progressive ads then God bless Glenn Beck!
- Bob
I listen to and am proud that Glenn Beck has the courage to let people know what is going on in this country and how it is being misdirected by both parties, and I will no longer support Geico, PG or Progressive Ins.
- Nan
Others will step in and fill the breach as Beck only is telling the truth. We never had such a split in racial views as we do now. This idiot president has literally by his comments set the racial unity that has been a major part of groups like Promise Keepers, back 15 years or more. It is so humorous the righteous indignation shown here when this president has shown himself to be racist. Really in the likes of George Wallace in his prime or Lester Maddux. What a shame, and it is more shameful that people react like this man is Allah himself. I have dropped Geico insurance because of this action. I will further boycott Proctor and Gamble as well. Progressive is no loss as their rates were ridiculous to begin with. Sorry you can't accept the truth about this president. He may not be the anti-Christ, but he sure is a lieutenant. I voted for him believing his message of change. I didn't like Bush and his deception. Well, Bush looks like a saint in comparison to Barry. He is a liar, deceiver, manipulator, intimidator, and a man with no compulsion about doing whatever it takes to get what he wants, whether it right or not.
- CJ
You cannot change what you dont acknowledge. Do your own research and not seat of the pants reactionary blather. Beck doesent say anything lightly. Obama spoke of a police officer and then stuck his chest out as if he knows the man. well turns out he racially identified that officer and went immediately into some racial tirade about it. What did that mean? You tell me? You are a race baiter and an uninformed hater. No one that followers Beck believes that his statements are made from the hip like the president. So if you want to call back advertisers then call them back on the president. He took a huge leap and didnt even know what he was talking about. If advertisers leave Beck its because they are being told to do it. not because they would want to. I'm looking for all the missing feet Obama says are hacked off for cash and a few tonsils laying around. Are you really in this game or just a person with a specific agenda?
- Linda
It is evident that you guys are in the tank for Obama and drinking the Kool Aid of the NBC networks. You calling for the advertisers on Becks program to drop him is typical of trying to silence the truth about what is happening in our country for your perception of CHANGE! I hope your guy gets his change and after that gets done you will see this country rally against this change to make sure this kind of radical, socialistic, unamerican, redistribution of wealth never happens again. You guys have been brainwashed! I hope you guys are in the highest tax bracket so you can help pay for this Change! If you are, I feel somewhat better! If it would make you feel better send some extra money in with your taxes to help the Government with this insanity! I bet you wont!
- Chuck
Good riddance to those advertisers! Who needs them? I'm sure there will
be plenty of other companies to take their place. They are just
pandering to liberals and that's fine, because they will not get
anymore of this conservative's money. Thank you Glenn for being the
voice of so many who share your views! As for Reyes, maybe you need to
take one of those spots. I've never heard of you. At least you can use
Glenn to get your name out.
- Luke
We need more people in this country who will call it like they see it. Not weak minded drones who follow anyone who lies better than the next guy.
- Denzel
I have never seen Geico, Progressive Insurance, and PG on Glenn Beck's show and I watch it fairly regularly. Glenn Beck comments are taken out of context and it's a shame its being reported this way when the country is at a crucial time where there needs be an open debate on issues instead these accusatory reports. Lets talk about the actual issues. The polarizing will kill this wonderful nation. If you watch Glenn Beck in its entirety instead of sound bites you will see Glenn Beck believes that as well.
- Jarom
While I agree that advetisers have the right to advertise where they wish, your obvious hate of right-wingers is blaring. A war is brewing in this country over an extreme difference of views and where I may not agree with all right-wingers, they do have the right to express their views just as you have used your right to express your views. Do you think advertisers should pull their ads because of your liberal views? The door swings both way, remember?
- Angie
Have you checked the ratings for viewership at all over the last year or so? The Fox News Channel consistently spanks the losers that you recommend from msnbc (oh please) and all of the other propagandists on your side COMBINED, usually every night! How could that possibly be if they pander to lunatics? In fact, FNC shows took 10 of the top 10 spots a couple of weeks ago in the all-important cable night time news category. Their surging number of viewers is because people want the truth and "reporters, writers, and journalists" like you can't seem to be able to remove their collective heads from our pathetic president's arse long enough to see a fact, much less report on it. Look at the Nielsen results, then explain to all of us how those numbers represent a 'niche'. Nice try, but you wrote a particularly miserable piece, and then didn't even bother to proofread it before you posted. If you imagine the dwindling number of people that are reading your detritus don't recognize your ignorance, then you truly may be as stupid as you appear to be. Please - don't give up, just wake up! As for the boycott, heads up for a backfire as consumers boycott those companies that have chosen to pull ad time from Glenn Beck's show. These manufacturers are touting their true colors as they have consistently supported the offensive programming that is to be found most nights on the major networks TV line ups.
- sd
The truth is often difficult to swallow. Glenn Beck will survive. The public has the right to know what is going on in the sick leftist world. This is not a post-racial president. The "chosen one" has caused more racial division among Americans than any talk show host.
- Erich
I love to watch his show and want it to stay on and as for those advertisers they are gonna get a phone or email from me letting them know I am taking inventory to seee if I use any products and my huge family and my extremly large network of friends to see what types of products they use and begin to make calls, faxes, and emails that we do not appreciate them not supporting our news providers at fox news.
- Irene
Glenn has a perfect right to express his ideas. So what if some companies have issues with his content. Yes, sometimes he is over the top but I like that he is different.
- Daryl
Anti Glenn Beck
Thank you's to the advertisers who chose not to be a part of hateful, racist rhetoric on national TV. I wish they would take a second look at the other two commentators mentioned in your article.
- Etha
I also find Mr. Beck's remarks disturbing.
- Wally
I Am Very Glad That Beck is Getting A Slapping for His Own Racially Motivated Comments. He is A Hate Monger! His Way is Always The Right Way. God is on His Side? I Stopped Watching Him When He Was on CNN. I Stopped Watching Fox News When He Showed Up There. He Needs to Get Himself A Church, Out in The Desert Somewhere, and Preach His Venom to The Cactus. Glenn Beck Go Away.
- Chef T
Kudos for the advertisers who abandoned Glenn Beck. Now, if some more of the sponsors for all of Fox News would follow suit, that would be great. Fox News is nothing but a propaganda tool for the right-wing lunatic fringe. I will never buy anything advertised on Fox News.
- Isabelle
I'm thrilled to hear that the advertisers listed will no longer support the very 'deep seated hatred' Glenn Beck spoke about. When I want a good laugh I listen to him speak and I sit back and wonder how anyone with half a mind can listen to him and think what he is saying is based on anything other than his very skewed opinion. I hope FOX wakes up soon and lets him go.
- Maribeth
Thank you for your comments on Beck/Advertisers, The Fox talk show hosts need to realize that they are not the "final court of arbitration", they are entertainers (not very good ones) and not educators, I was glad when Beck left CNN I really hope Fox dumps him.
- Gail
I think Beck has gone totally over the edge. Drug relapse? He's always made such a big deal about being a recovered cocaine addict; I think Fox needs to have mandatory drug testing for their on-air staff, clearly it's out of control. I know being a "star" is temptation, but this is Ridiculous!!! I used to watch him occasionally, but he's clearly unbalanced at this point.
- Kathy
If you think that MSNBC is better than Glenn Beck, you are stupid. I don't care for Beck, but MSNBC is full of queers and anti-everything libs.
- Bob
You people on the left are such idiots, it's not even funny. Glenn Beck is right on target with Barack. Now that Geico, Proctor & Gamble, and Progressive Insurance have pulled out, we will not even consider those companies!
- Tony
Glenn Beck is merely projecting his own racism onto President Obama. Beck appears to be a nice enough man who chooses to blame others for all the problems in the world. Blaming others is an age old technique used by demagogues to hide their own inadequacies. Maybe Beck should understand 'the other' before 'shooting from the lips'. I am glad that advertisers realize what a misinformed man Glenn Beck really is!
- Larry
Other Comments
As I watch the divide between conservatives and liberals becoming larger and more viscious it is increasingly apparent that if the conservatives express similar opinions the way liberals do, the backlash is much greater. I don't believe the president has said he hates white people outright and no one knows truly where his head is on the matter because he is a Politian and he is going to say what people want to hear. There is a wise proverb "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks". If a white president had made these same comments and innuendos about African Americans he would probably be getting ready to go to trial for possible impeachment. Just so it is understood, any comment placing a negative "label" and attributing that label to be an exclusive attribute to a race for any reason is racist. Just because it is made about Caucasians doesn't mean its "OK" or should just be overlooked because "well the white's deserve it". No Human being deserves being labeled for something because of their race or color. Racism is like a disease and has to be stopped from being allowed to spread. It "starts" and "stops" by the example we are for our children, no matter how each race be have's as a group or individual we have to teach our children. That it is wrong. Calling racism "racism" is not hate or wrong, if it is true then it is making those with the most influence accountable. And that is "righteous".
- Joyce
I would agree that the comments Glenn Beck made about Obama's level of racism were a little over the top. But suggesting that a person watch the state run media station MSNBC is also! MSNBC's slant on the news is biased far left. Aren't they owned by some liberal democrat extremist? I want to know why the news can't just be reported as fact without editorial opinion. The fact that you are recommending that people watch MSNBC leads me to believe that you are a proponent of the state run media machine. Back to the subject of racism, I'm sure that you've heard some of the comments made by Reverend Wright, the preacher at the church where Obama attended for 20 years. Certainly sounds anti-semitic, anti-white and anti-United States of America to me! Check it out for yourself. You be the judge. Anyway, find me some television broadcasting that tells the truth and the real Americans will watch.

Glenn Beck is not always right that is for sure, and sometimes he goes off on 'off the wall' tangents, BUT he has the right to his opinions like everyone else. If he can not PRODUCE the profits necessary to keep his advertisers happy then they can pull out anytime, But to have them bail on him because of Political pressure is the beginnings of Political censorship and the end of Free Speech as we know it !

Anyone that fuels hatred and bigotry needs God. It is okay to disagree but not to the point of promoting hatred just because of one's race. We all have opinions and have the right to express them. Educate yourself on "race" - Human Race!

It amazes me that people in this country are blaming the Obama administration for our financial woes and accusing him of digging a whole that we will never get out of. Please people, think a bit. This "hole" was dug by 8 years of Republican foreign and domestic policies. How much does the Iraq war cost a day? Why are we there? WMD's? National interests? I think not. A failure of republican governmental oversight of the mortgage industry and cutting taxes during war (never been done before) led to our financial position. At least own up to it my right wing brothers and sisters and don't blame it on the person who inherited it. It belies an intelligent response.

Why doesn't Obama show his birth certificate? Must be hiding something. He is a big BS man and is not living in the real world.
- Douglas
True, Beck is a little annoying, but not as much as that Keith Obamamann, er, Olbermann fellow. Now there's someone who's worth watching, that is if you want your head to explode from a TSUNAMI of BS! If you want good, non-biased info, be sure to catch Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld on Fox News.

As I read through the comments on what was truly kinda lame coverage of an important news story, I realized that most of the comments prove what the author was putting forward. These people are on some kind of lunatic fringe. The country will survive the next few years - but these folks blood pressure rise might not mean the same to them. They say silly stuff, really. Glenn Beck is fun to watch because he changes with the wind - if you taped all of his shows you would see that his opinions contradict themselves all the time. It's a hoot! But he isn't a real journalist, or a reporter, he's an opinion guy. He needs to be theatrical and if today he is crying about something being one way and six months ago he was crying because of the opposite, well he entertains and keeps you watching. I never knew anyone to take him seriously! Advertisers pull their advertising all the time, when they think most of their potential customers aren't watching. It means that they don't think that Glenn's audience is going to buy their products - and if you read these comments it looks like they are correct! Business is business, if you offend my customers, why in the world would I advertise with you? One advertises to get customers.

To all those who say "Fox tells it like it is" and "they report the news and let us, the public, decide"... do you honestly believe that? Do Beck and Hannity truly speak in an unbiased manner? Are you kidding me? I am neither a Dem. nor a Rep. so I can speak for the middle. Is MSNBC a left-wing station? YES. Is FoxNews a right-wing station? YES. Both are biased. If you think Beck and Hannity (since they are in this story) aren't unbiased then you are truly not thinking clearly. Nothing but left-wing bashing. Same as the other side, yes. Think for yourselves people. Open your eyes. It's this left/right divide that has been dragging this country down. YOU are the reason this country is in the shape that it's in. For the sake of this great, great country... open your eyes.

Oh shut up pin head. Why is it offensive when a white man calls a black man a racist. Why is OK for Barack Obama to call white cops racist but then when he gets called a racist theres an outcry.

I find it interesting, if not reverse fanaticism to comment; "Fox News has carved out a successful niche pandering to the lunatic right." I dont consider myself to be a fanatic, nor am I far right, but I am a conservative and I should be able to listen to free speech, whereever and whenever. Does that make me a lunatic? I doubt that! But, it does make the author part of the "lunatic" left or far right, who want to do away with free speech. All anyone has to do is disagree with their way of thinking and it is automatically time to follow suit with some kind of defamatory statement, such as this. Why not get all these people together in one boat and let them settle it out. Have a middle of the road TV newsman, if one can be found and let him direct questions to each side. Those sides spit out their rhetoric and then the other side states their facts. Match up the facts and let it settle where it belongs.
- Ed
No MSNBC does not have any good news shows. Each side is as bad as the other.
