2 Militants Killed in Kashmir Gunfights

Srinagar, Aug 11: At least two militants were killed in separate gunfights with Indian soldiers in restive Kashmir on Tuesday.
"Body of a militant was recovered during a search operation from the Keran sector in North Kashmir on Tuesday," army sources said, adding, "The identity of the slain militant and the outfit to which he owes allegiance could not be ascertained".
A militant and an Indian soldier were killed in a gunfight in the area yesterday.
A police officer said that a fierce exchange of fire took place between militants and soldiers in the Rafiabad area in north Kashmir on Tuesday. "The encounter continued for more than three hours during which an unidentified militant was killed," he said, adding, "Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site". He said that combing and search operations are going on in the area.
