TORONTO (Sasha Stoltz Publicity): Tonya Lee Williams will be crossing The Border, as the popular daytime actress joins the hit CBC series in the recurring role of Constance Meade, a veteran director for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, who is described as "a conduit to the corridors of power, able to get things done in the bureaucratic thickets of Washington"; "tough, uncompromising, and authoritative", and "willing to make tough choices and see them through".

For those unfamiliar, The Border follows the fictional Immigration & Customs Security (ICS) agency. Created by the Canadian government, the agents take on cases involving Canadian national security, as they tried to keep the peace at the U.S-Canada border against the latest threats of terrorism.

The show features an all-star cast that includes Forever Knight alumnus Catherine Disher and Nigel Bennett, former Cylon Grace Park (Battlestar Galatica, The Cleaner), Alberta Watson (La Femme Nikita, 24), Nicholas Campbell (Da Vinci's Inquest), and Sofia Milos (CSI: Miami).

Though told from Canada's perspective, each episode deals with the issues affecting both the country and the world such as 9/11, the Darfur crisis, human trafficking, and the rights of the individual.

Williams is going to be doing double duty with The Border and CBS' The Young & The Restless as fan favorite Dr. Olivia Winters, a role that she has played on and off since 1990 that earned her two NAACP Image Awards and two Daytime Emmy nominations. The busy 51-year-old is also known for Reelworld, the Canadian film festival she has founded in 2000. Focusing on bringing diversity both in front and behind the camera, it will celebrate its 10th anniversary next April.

The new season of The Border premieres this fall on CBC Television.
