New ShrubGuard Protects Shrubs And Keeps Curb Appeal Up During Colder Months
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Those attractive shrubs in the yard adding curb appeal can rest easy
during the colder months to come when they're safe and snug in ShrubGuard ,
the first of its kind gardening product designed to protect shrubs from
the winter blues. Known in the gardening industry as a winter jacket for
your plants, ShrubGuard is a non-woven fabric bag designed to blend
beautifully with autumn and winter landscapes while keeping out drying
winds, winter sun, hungry animals, road salt and frost.
"The idea for ShrubGuard began forming a couple of years ago when I was
out in the autumn cold and rain, trying to wrap burlap around my
delicate Rhododendron shrubs and Spirea shrubs (which the rabbits love
to eat) and I decided there had to be a better way, " said Cynthia
VanRenterghem, Co-owner of Plumstone, Inc, which produces garden
products that meet necessity with simplicity and style.
ShrubGuard is breathable and porous, allowing oxygen and water to
circulate, which is necessary for maintaining plant health during the
colder months. The fabric bag opens along the side for easy coverage
around the shrub, and its protective closure uses three ties as well as
an upper and lower drawstring. ShrubGuard's attractive sage green fabric
with a subtle leaf design keeps curb appeal up while the shrub slumbers
in dormancy until spring.
Available in small, medium and large, each ShrubGuard comes in a small
tote to be used for summer storage. For odd-shaped plants such as a rose
trellis or an extra tall shrub, ShrubGuard is also available in a 5'x7'
customizable sheet. Each size comes with three fasteners to help contour
ShrubGuard to various plant shapes.
Single ShrubGuards retail for under eight to twelve dollars, depending
on the size and triple packs retail for under 20 to 25 dollars.
Customized sheets are only sold as singles.
This new product is available Sept. 1 through online retail outlets, gosunstick.com
