Intermec Wins Department of Defense's Automatic Identification Technology IV Contract

EVERETT, Wash. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Intermec, Inc. (NYSE:IN) today announced that it has been awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity ("IDIQ" ) contract by the U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD) Army Contracting Command for Automatic Identification Technology ("AIT-IV contract" ). Since 1988, Intermec has provided the DoD and Federal government agencies with AIT technologies for asset tracking, inventory control, automated warehousing, and depot and distribution management. Intermec was one of several AIT-IV awardees. The AIT-IV contract is the latest in a series of DoD contracts, four of which have been awarded to the company (Logmars, AIT I, III and IV).

The AIT-IV contract life is for an initial term of three years, with an option for a total of six additional years of purchases. The contract provides for a contract ceiling of $418,517,764, which is the aggregate of potential awards which may be issued to Intermec and other awardees.

AIT-IV orders for products and services may be placed by any authorized activity supporting the Department of Defense, the United States Coast Guard (CG), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Coalition Partners, other Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and other Federal agencies.

The following Intermec solutions are included in the AIT-IV contract:

  • CK3 and CN3 rugged mobile computers
  • SR61 handheld barcode scanner
  • PD42 commercial barcode printer
  • PF8 desktop printer
  • PM4i RFID printer
