Nortel Veteran Bruce Portell Joins Tecore Networks As Chief Operating Officer
COLUMBIA, Md. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Tecore Networks, a Maryland-based global supplier of multi-technology
2G, 3G and 4G mobile network infrastructure, today announced that Bruce
K. Portell has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer. A proven
leader with more than 30 years' experience in the military
communications and telecommunications industry, Portell will lead
Tecore's growth through capture of major new business opportunities with
commercial operators, government entities including state, local and
military organizations, and all customers seeking to upgrade their
networks to 3G and 4G LTE.
Mr. Portell spent over 30 years combined in the US Army, Westinghouse
and Nortel Networks before joining Tecore Networks. As Chief Operating
Officer, he is focused on the strategic business plan for propelling the
company to the next level with his vast experience in driving sales,
structuring alliances and bringing world-class products to market. He is
an Army veteran and holds a Master's of Administrative Science degree
from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's degree in Business with a
concentration in Marketing from Towson University. Most recently Mr.

"Tecore Networks has a unique place in the mobile communications market,
with advanced solutions for commercial operators and government
agencies," said Portell. "The iCore core network and iBSS radio access
network products are ideal for the U.S. broadband stimulus program
currently underway. The iNAC Managed Access system has received industry
recognition as the most effective means of restricting cell phone use in
correctional institutions. And our ability to upgrade customer networks
to 4G LTE via software plug-ins is a first for our market segments."
"I am delighted to welcome Bruce to this critical role to help Tecore
capitalize on the growth opportunities in front of us," said Jay
Salkini, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tecore Networks.
"Bruce's knowledge of Tecore goes back to the very founding of the
company, and his career since then has positioned him well to take this
company to new heights."
