MaxID's iDLMax Handheld Biometric Device Successfully Completes TWIC Evaluation

  Share With Friends

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - MaxID, a global manufacturer of biometric handheld equipment, today announced that the company's iDLMax handheld biometric device has successfully completed the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Initial Capability Evaluation (ICE) assessment.

The TWIC incorporates tamper-resistant biometric data and is a vital security measure that ensures individuals who pose a threat do not gain unescorted access to secure areas of the nation's maritime transportation system.

"By attaining approved vendor status on the ICE list, U.S. ports and vessel operators now have access to MaxID's superior handheld computing technology," said Stephen Grist, CEO of MaxID. "The ergonomic iDLMax will help maritime facilities and vessels manage TWICs in a secure and operationally efficient manner."

The iDLMax is a multi-modal, rugged mobile computer that offers a complete set of features for virtually any identity management challenge -- including QWERTY keyboard, contact card, contactless card, barcode, optical fingerprint, and optional magnetic swipe and MRZ readers with a digital camera, GPS, and comprehensive wireless communications. The iDLMax is a complete, integrated mobile solution for all badging and identity management requirements and provides functionality well beyond the scope of the ICE testing. When users need to read TWIC, Seafarers' ID, CAC, PIV, FRAC cards, or driver's licenses, as well as use the other on-board biometric functions to verify identity, the iDLMax does it all in a light, compact, easy-to-use form factor.
