'The Truth About Mexico' - Live, Work, Retire in Merida, Yucatan

CHICAGO, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- For many Americans, Canadians, Europeans and Mexicans that are living, working or retired in Mexico, the recent bad press about Mexico is good news!

Great bargains in the tourist areas have been a boon to local Mexicans and expats that call Mexico home. Deeply discounted hotel rooms, restaurants, tours and entertainment bargains are everywhere!

Quips Alex Snook, originally from Chicago, "I like spending a few days in Playa [Playa del Carmen]. But it is usually so overrun with tourists that I avoid it. Now, the famous beach town is half-empty and there are great bargains everywhere!"

Snook, who lives and works in Merida, Yucatan, can drive to Playa in four hours from his home outside Merida. "I read the USA media reports on Mexico every day on my laptop. Some of the stuff I read is just so over the top! Here in Merida, nobody gets kidnapped. Nobody is worried about it. There's more crime in Topeka, Kansas. There are no drug lords controlling the streets. Nobody is dropping dead of the flu. It is just so much hype and nonsense," remarked Snook.

If people really want the truth about living, working and retiring in Mexico, they should consider going to one of the seminars that will be made available to Americans, over the next several months, by the top-notch professionals at Mexico International. The first seminar will be held in Chicago, August 8th, at the Chicago Days Inn Hotel, 644 West Diversey Parkway, Corner Diversey/Clark/Broadway. Topics include real estate, cost of living, safety, health care, owning/operating a business, tax benefits, local culture and the activities of the English-speaking community in Merida.

"Thanks to appealing real estate and a good return on investment, the thriving American community of part-time residents and retirees lives a lifestyle far above what they can afford in the U.S.," states Mitch Keenan, CRS, principal of Mexico International Real Estate.

"Press coverage about swine flu, drug cartels and economic problems in other parts of Mexico has scared people away from learning about living a life of luxury here in the Yucatan peninsula. However, it is no different than foreigners hearing about gangs in Los Angeles or unemployment in Detroit. There are definite problems in isolated areas of the U.S. -- and it makes for dramatic media stories -- but these problems do not affect the entire country and should not scare foreigners from visiting the best places in the U.S. The same is true for us in the enchanted paradise of Merida, Mexico," added Keenan.

The cost to attend is $50.00 and space is limited. Visit http://www.mexintl.com for details and to make reservations. Additional seminars will be held in Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, LA, New York City and San Francisco.
