Avail Media, the only independent aggregator and provider of linear MPEG-4 IPTV content, and TVN Entertainment, the world's largest TV on-demand company, today announced that their merger has been completed. Beginning today, the combined company, rebranded Avail-TVN, enables the distribution and monetization of linear and on-demand content to more than 120 million consumers through more than 230 cable, telecom, DBS, and hybrid providers.

"Today, Avail-TVN becomes the largest independent provider of end-to-end content aggregation, management and distribution offerings," said CEO Ramu Potarazu. "This merger is changing the game for content owners and service providers, who are looking to partner with the most knowledgeable and proven providers of digital media services. With our combined product and service portfolio, we are able to deliver the most attractive and profitable video services today as well as the foundation to extend these services to new devices and networks tomorrow."

Avail Media and TVN Entertainment announced their intention to merge on May 18, 2009. Columbia Capital, the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC), Novak Biddle Venture Partners, Pioneer Ventures and Valhalla Partners invested in the merger. In addition to the extensive Hollywood movie studios, cable networks and independent content producers, joint customers will now enjoy the ability to offer linear programming from national broadcasters and even more localized, genre-specific, ethnic/international, and long-tail content.
