The Institute for Defense and Business Hosts Inaugural Life Cycle Executive Leadership Program, August 9-14

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., July 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Institute for Defense and Business (IDB) is pleased to host the inaugural offering of its Life Cycle Executive Leadership Program (LCELP) Aug 9-14 in Chapel Hill, NC. The IDB partnered with the Schools of Industrial and Systems Engineering at North Carolina State University (NCSU) and North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T) to develop this course focused on the business aspects of managing product and system life cycles. The course was designed for military, DoD, and private sector leaders responsible for implementing life cycle initiatives within their respective organizations.

During the course, participants can expect to learn more about the following:

    --  Lifecycle approaches to systems design and improvement;
    --  Concurrent engineering and design for sustainment;
    --  Capability-driven strategy;
    --  Investment in life cycle approaches;
    --  Disruptive technology and organizational innovations;
    --  Leadership for change;
    --  Reducing life cycle costs in the supply chain; and

    --  Best-practice case studies in reducing the total cost of ownership.

LCELP's target audience for this program includes leaders, project managers, and system integrators from the military services, the DoD, and the private sector responsible for acquisition or sustainment of defense-related programs, elements, products, and systems. Ideal participants include O4-O6 grade military officers, GS-13 to GS-15 government civilians, and their private sector equivalents. The program is designed for both non-engineers and engineers interested in developing a deeper understanding of life cycle theories, practices, and techniques.

Registrants to date represent the following organizations: Defense Acquisition University (DAU), U.S. Army Forces Command (USA FORSCOM), U.S. Army Logistics Innovation Agency, Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORPS SYSCOM), Tobyhanna Army Depot, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Sierra Army Depot, Rock Island Arsenal, Boeing, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The cost to attend the program is $6,000, which includes program materials as well as room and board at UNC Kenan-Flagler's premier executive education facility the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center.
