Newsblaze presents American Bandstand with then-new host David Hirsch. The Detroit-born comedian was 26 when "America's Oldest Living Teenager" named him as his predecessor when Bandstand moved to USA Network in the spring of 1989. Ironically, it was the same age Clark was back on July 9, 1956 when he took over for original host Bob Horn as the permanent host of Bandstand a year before it went national on ABC.
On this edition of American Bandstand, the Bronx-born trio Sweet Sensation stopped by to performed their Top 20 smash "Sincerely Yours" from their freshman album Take It While It's Hot. Two years later, they scored their biggest hit with "If Wishes Came True", taking the top spot from Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" back in September 1990.
Making their debut on American Bandstand with "Sincerely Yours", give it up for some Sweet Sensation:
