5.2 Quake Jolts Kashmir

Srinagar, July 5: A moderate intensity earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted restive Kashmir on Sunday afternoon.
An official of Metrological department said the 5.2 magnitude quake, the epicentre of which was in Hindukush mountain range of Afghanistan, was felt at 3.16 p.m. "The epicentre was positioned at 36.5 degrees North Latitude and 71.2 degrees East Longitude," he said.
He also said there were no reports of casualties or damage from anywhere in Kashmir.
Kashmir is highly prone to earthquakes. Srinagar and its adjoining areas fall in Seismic Zone V whereas the rest Kashmir falls in Seismic Zone IV.
