Wyoming's First Distillery Celebrates Independence Day with Start of Bourbon Production

The distillery is the first legal bourbon distillery in the history ofWyoming and is set to produce handcrafted bourbon under the direction of Bourbon Hall of Famer Steve Nally using only ingredients from the great state ofWyoming.

"The Big Horn Basin has everything you need to make great bourbon, from corn grown inThermopolis, wheat fromMeeteetse and barley fromRiverton to water from the artisanal, limestone wells inWorland," said Founder and Chief Executive Officer Bradford Mead.

Steve Nally, formerly of the Maker's Mark Distillery, and his wife Donna have relocated fromKentucky to oversee the whiskey making operation and run the distillery. Fellow Bourbon Hall of Famer Lincoln Henderson will work with Wyoming Whiskey to design a maturation process specific to theWyoming climate and conditions.

"It's a once in lifetime opportunity for a Master Distiller to bring his trade to a beautiful part of the world and create a traditional bourbon that takes advantage of the quality of the local ingredients and unique maturation environment that theBig Horn Basin provides. A chance to work with Lincoln Henderson just puts it over the top," said Master Distiller Steve Nally.

"We believe that we have put together a winning combination of proven whiskey makers and the right environment to make our bourbon. When will it be ready? When it's good and ready. We have only one goal and that is to create America's next great bourbon," said David DeFazio Founder and Chief Operating Officer.

Wyoming Whiskey has built a 5,500 square foot distillery in Kirby,Wyoming that will produce 1,000 barrels a year and plans to start sales inWyoming and then expand to a national distribution model.
