Delaware's Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease Breakfast Highlights Promising Practices in Managing Chronic Disease Provides Solutions for Reduced Spending and Improved Patient Health

WILMINGTON, Del. , June 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Delaware's Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease (PFCD), a coalition committed to making chronic disease prevention and management a major part of comprehensive health reform, hosted a breakfast meeting today where partner and affiliate organizations shared promising practices for chronic disease management and care.

America spends more than $2 trillion on health care every year and 75 percent - or $1.7 trillion - of that spending is associated with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, depression, heart disease and cancer. "We need to do all we can to lower expenses associated with chronic disease through prevention and sharing the most promising practices with our colleagues in health," said Reverend Robert Hall, Executive Director of the Delaware Ecumenical Council on Children & Families, who served as master of ceremonies. "Hopefully today's breakfast will help in a small way lead to better chronic disease management inDelaware reducing health care costs and improving patient care."
