Network Instruments Launches Largest Portable Retrospective Network Analysis Device

Minneapolis, MN, June 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Network Instruments, a leader in performance management and troubleshooting, announced today its release of the second-generation GigaStor Portable. With a storage capacity of up to 4 TB and a new larger RAID system, it is the largest and fastest portable network recorder available for performing in-the-field retrospective network analysis (RNA).

Because of its ability to significantly reduce the mean time to resolution (MTTR) for teams resolving sporadic performance problems, RNA has emerged as the standard method for network troubleshooting.

"Going offsite used to mean network professionals were forced to leave behind powerful analysis tools for a laptop with simple packet-capture software," said Charles Thompson, product manager of Network Instruments. "GigaStor Portable gives network professionals the power of RNA in a self-contained, transportable appliance, so you plug-in and perform immediate analysis regardless of the location."

Without GigaStor Portable's insight, engineers may spend hours replicating a network error before they can diagnose its cause. GigaStor Portable can be deployed to any remote location to collect and save weeks of packet-level data, which it can decode, analyze, and display. The appliance quickly sifts through data, isolates incidents, and provides extensive expert analysis to resolve issues.

"As performance troubleshooting challenges increase in complexity, customers continue to rely on our solutions to meet their changing needs" said Roman Oliynk, co-founder and CEO of Network Instruments. "With the second generation GigaStor Portable, not only have we doubled storage capacity, but capture and analysis speeds have dramatically increased."

Product Availibility
The GigaStor Portable appliance is available today. The appliance analyzes traffic across multiple network topologies, including gigabit, 10 Gb, WAN, and wireless. The luggable, all-in-one unit contains Observer and GigaStor technology, as well as all required cabling, a dual quad-core processor Windows XP Pro x64 system, built-in, 15-inch active matrix display, keyboard, and trackpad; and options of 2 TB or 4 TB total storage.
