Indian Soldier Killed Near Kashmir Frontier

Srinagar, June 29: An Indian army soldier was killed near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector on Monday when a group of militants tried to sneak into this side of Kashmir.
An army official, pleading anonymity said a group of militants tried to sneak into Kashmir through the PK post in Ajote area in the Poonch sector on Sunday evening. "The militants fired from automatic weapons towards the soldier. In the shoot-out a soldier identified as Mohinder Singh was killed and another critically injured," he said.
The official said that army is assessing the situation and trying to ascertain whether the militants provided cover to the militants.
