Spectra Energy Establishes New Pennsylvania Office
HOUSTON - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Spectra Energy Corp (NYSE:SE) has opened a western Pennsylvania office,
located in Pittsburgh, to support its capital development projects,
including the proposed Texas Eastern Appalachia to Market (TEAM)
expansion program. TEAM will bring rapidly emerging Appalachian
production to key markets in Pennsylvania and the rest of the northeast
United States.
"On all of our projects, we make every effort to be readily accessible
to those who are interested in our facilities and expansion plans," said
Bill Yardley, group vice president, Spectra Energy Transmission. "The
new office provides us with the opportunity to be closer to our
customers and stakeholders in Pennsylvania as we develop the pipeline
infrastructure needed to move Appalachian gas supplies into the region."
Spectra Energy's Texas Eastern pipeline system traverses the Appalachian
formation, which spans the regions of West Virginia, eastern Ohio,
western and northern Pennsylvania and southern New York.
"Texas Eastern is perfectly positioned to connect Appalachian supply
with major markets and we're able to do it quickly and
cost-effectively," said Bob Riga, general manager of Northeast
marketing, Spectra Energy Transmission, who will head up the new office.
"And, given our years of experience and existing footprint, we're able
to expand responsibly, managing costs and minimizing impacts to
landowners, communities and the environment."
With a targeted capacity of 300 million cubic feet per day, the TEAM
expansion program will be developed over several years to match
production growth in the Appalachian basin area. Initial in-service is
projected to be as early as November 2011.
In addition, Texas Eastern has received more than 35 requests from
various producers to establish interconnections with their pipeline
laterals in the central and southwestern Pennsylvania production areas.
The requests total more than 1.9 billion cubic feet per day of capacity
through 2010. Several of these interconnections have been completed and
are expected to deliver more than 150 million cubic feet of natural gas
per day into the Texas Eastern system.
Spectra Energy's office is located at Foster Plaza 5, 651 Holiday Drive,
Suite 300, in Pittsburgh.
