HONOLULU, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Hawaii American Water, which provides wastewater treatment for approximately 35,000 people in Oahu's Hawaii Kai community, will pay for one of the $500 student scholarships offered annually by the Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Foundation. "The Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Foundation has created a very meaningful program to support higher education in our community," said Hawaii American Water General Manager, Lee Mansfield. "We're proud to be a small part of this program and what has become a great local event celebrating family and friends."

The Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Foundation grants $500 scholarships annually to aspiring college students and enrolled students in need of financial assistance. The organization's Independence Day event, which features live music, fireworks, food and children's activities, helps to raise money for the scholarship fund.
