Prevent Blindness America Approves PediaVision Assessment Solution
Supported by Studies in Journal of American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology, and Binocular Vision and Strabismus Quarterly; PediaVision Screening Device Passes Rigorous Tests Based Upon ATS, VIP, or AAP Protocol

PediaVision, a company dedicated to solving
the critical problem of undiagnosed vision problems affecting thousands of
children, today announced that Prevent Blindness America,
www.preventblindness.org, has approved the PediaVision Assessment Solution
(PAS) powered by Plusoptix, as a vision screening device meeting the
Prevent Blindness America vision screening protocol, supported by recent
studies published in Journal of the American Academy of Pediatric
Ophthalmology and Binocular Vision and Strabismus Quarterly.
The PAS is a revolutionary vision screening solution that assists
Pediatricians and organizations such as Prevent Blindness America and Lions
Clubs in the detection of vision problems including, refractive errors,
amblyopia, strabismus, anisocoria, and media opacities. This is critical
because one out of every four children in the U.S. suffers from a vision
problem -- 7.7 million children under age 11. Fortunately, 95 percent of
vision problems can be corrected if caught early.
"The Prevent Blindness America Pediatric Advisory Committee meets annually
to review our screening protocols to ensure they are based on the most
current evidence. As a result of this year's committee meeting, the
PediaVision Assessment Solution has now been approved for use in preschool
age children, including pre-verbal and special needs children," said Hugh
R. Parry, President and CEO of Prevent Blindness America.
Parry added, "Prevent Blindness America recognizes that computer-based
testing of visual acuity for child vision-screening purposes is now
available. And, our organization approves of the use of such technology, if
programmed to present testing methods that have been validated in children
of similar ages that meet Prevent Blindness America approved standards
based upon ATS, VIP, or AAP protocol."
PediaVision's CEO David Melnik commented, "Prevent Blindness America offers
the only national certification program for children's vision screening and
vision screening training, which are based on protocols determined by
leading experts in child health and vision care from across the country.
We're proud to have the approval of this leading vision authority for our
PAS as a vision screening device that meets the tough technology
standards."
"Effective for screening children of any age, especially pre-verbal
children, our PediaVision Assessment Solution (PAS) is the only binocular
vision screening device that yields highly accurate, immediate results,"
said Melnik added.
