NTELOS Selects ADTRAN Total Access 5000 for Broadband DLC
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - ADTRAN,
Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation
networking solutions, today announced that NTELOS,
a leading provider of wireless and wireline communications to consumers
and businesses in Virginia and West Virginia, has selected ADTRAN's
flagship product, the Total
Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP)
for Broadband Digital Loop Carrier (BBDLC) applications. The
implementation of the Total Access 5000, with its all-Ethernet core,
will enable NTELOS to cost-effectively provide broadband data, IP video
and voice services within its customer base.
ADTRAN's Total Access 5000 was selected for deployment in the NTELOS
network based on its depth and breadth of services that can be supported
by a single chassis as well as an industry-leading warranty and
best-in-class technical support. These benefits when combined with a low
capital investment result in a lower total cost of ownership and
accelerated return on investment.
"Our customers will benefit from deployment of the Total Access 5000 as
it allows us to expand our fiber network all the way to the customer,"
said Glenn Butler, director of engineering and planning, NTELOS. "This
is one of the most flexible and efficient platforms on the market today.
Deploying the Total Access 5000 will not only meet our needs for today,
but future proofs our investment with the ability to add additional
services as demand for bandwidth grows."
"We are pleased that the Total Access 5000 has been approved for
deployment within NTELOS' network to enhance copper service delivery as
well as new FTTP builds," said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales,
service providers, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. "The Total Access
5000 is a flexible and cost-effective solution for carriers who are
transitioning their networks to next-generation services."
The ADTRAN Total Access 5000 is a carrier class, multi-service access
and aggregation platform that bridges the gap between existing and
next-generation networks. With an all-Ethernet core, the Total Access
5000 supports both legacy and emerging-service interfaces over copper
and fiber, easily scaling to support bandwidth-intensive applications.
This scalable Ethernet architecture allows carriers to use the Total
Access 5000 to economically address both legacy and next-generation
services while providing a seamless path toward a converged network.
