The Sutter Street Artists Display Their Art At The Procissi Wine Gallery
The Sutter Street Artists display their art at the Procissi Wine Gallery. All of the artists are members of the Folsom Art Association. They hosted a "Paint Out" in Folsom on Saturday, and invited all artists.
Lori Anderson, the group's president said "We had 21 artists join us. We were concerned that because of the heat that we wouldn't get a good turnout, but it was a big success. We wanted it to be a Rodeo/western theme and that could also include paintings of Folsom's historical district. Because of the heat we decided to put the emphasis on 'a painting in a day'."
Artists had their blank canvas stamped in the morning and then went out on Sutter Street, to the park, near The Chamber of commerce Building or even home to finish their paintings as long as they were back to the gallery by 4p.m. in time for judging. The Judging was done by nationally known Ken Potter.
The 1st place ribbon went to Beatriz Meyer, 2nd to Phillis Wild 3rd to Doris Goring Honorable mentions to Jerry Fairlie and Doug Ascalon. The winning paintings are displayed in the window of the Wine Gallery and some of the other art is on display in the gallery on easels.
