Contrasting The Deaths of Michael Jackson and Billy Mays

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.

Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead this morning after being found by his wife at home. There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon." http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-billy-mays29-2009jun29,0,6116879.story

People all over the world are mourning the loss of Michael Jackson the King of Pop who died at age 50. Another 50-year-old celebrity died today: Bill Mays The King of the TV Pitchmen.

Michael Jackson was universally loved, and legions of his fans are playing his hits and moonwalking in a tribute to their idol.

Billy Mays was not universally loved, and I doubt if even his hardcore fans are playing his commercials as a tribute to the King of Pitchmen.

I'm surprised that the police don't suspect foul play, I never met anyone who liked Billy Mays.

Billy Mays was the most obnoxious TV personality in the history of Western civilization. I got the willies when I saw his dyed beard, and I felt like throwing a book at the TV screen when I heard his loud and irritating voice.

Michael Jackson's songs will be played until the end of time, but let's hope that we will never again see a Billy Mays commercial on TV again.
